Pete Anderson, the negro horse
thief, who murdered Tiros. Daven

Gen. Samuel Lappin, ex State
Treasurer of Kansas, has been ar
rested in Oregon, traveling as a
book agent under the name of Rich
ardson. In 1874 he was jailed on a
clta-ge of forging school bonds, hut
escaped to South America, and had
not been heard of until his arrest.
Albert G. Pratt, of Meriden, Conn.,
aged forty-live years, a car
tinge painter, has just recovered
from an ntiuck of hiccoughs that
lasted twelve Hays and nine hours
without intercession, during which
time he hiccoughed at every respi
ration. Medical men say nine days
continuous! hiccoughing heretofore
always proved, fatal.

On the Bth of October Mrs. Mary
11. Davis, of Cherokee county, Am,
was called to Hie door of her house !
and shot dead, and a gentleman
named J ones, a visitor, who follow
ed her to the Goor was also killed,
being mistaken for Mrs. Davis’ bus
baud. J. it Dorsey, aged 74 years,
an uncle of Mt. Davis, and Jane
Wade, a woman of bad character,
were arrested, charged with the
murder, and lodged in the jail at
Centre. On Tuesday night of last
week a body oft masked men went to
the jail, took Dorsey and the woman
out about a hal? mile from town and
banged botb ofi them to the same
