among them. This dreadful disease is
now of frequent occurrence, and Ihe
medical fraternity have failed to find a
remedy for it.
Lett week waa prolific of fatal disas
tern, one of which occurred in our own
State. On Monday night, at Auatell,
Cub!i county, a paejeogcr train on the
E. T. Va. A Ga. railroad ran into a
Bleeping coach attached to the tram on
the Georgia Pacific road. Thre# per
aon* were killed instantly, and nine oth
er* hare sinou died from the injuries re
ceived. Among the dead is one entire
family of tire persons, consisting of an
old gentleman and his wife-, tbuir daugh
ter, son-in-law and grand child.
Judgo McKay, of the U. 8. District
Court, who granted a temporary injunc
tion in tbo prohibition ooutest in Atlan
ta, dueidod the case iu favor of the pro
bibitinniats, but, before the Ordinary
Oonld declare the result of the eleoiioi,
two other injunctions were served.
One of these was issued by Judge Ciarl,
of Poitou Huperior Court, and the oth
er by Judgo Pardee, of tue V. 8. Circuit
Court. It sf-uni* thut a long, costly and
bitter oenteet is yet before the people of
Atlauiu.
No doubt every reader of the Journal
has learned of the death if Geu. Robyn
Toombs. He died at bis home in Wash
ington, Wilkes county, and waa buried
with hia wife, to win m Ida married life
bad been a beuutiful devotion. The
following brief tribute, from the Macon
Telegraph of aen-ral days ago, expresses
a great deal in a few words :
