Wonder if the proprietor of that pa

The purchasers of the Macon and
Brunswick railroad have tendored
the balance of 1760,000 due the state,
in United (state* three per cent bonds,
and the treasurer and attorney-gener

ment. These bonds hare been is
sued since the law was passed presi
ding for this payment, and the mat
ter haagi en a technicality. If the
state can realize the three quarters of
a mill lon for the bonds we think the
treasurer should recire them, if net
then he should reject them.

to supplant Hon. Seaborn Reese lit
the next Congress. This effort will
come from Putnam county, we judge
from the lato issue of the Katonton
Messenger, and will be strong only so
for as the boundary lines ofthatcenn
ty extend, Morgan checks the move
ment, and if we mistake not Greene,
Clarks and Oconee will follow suit,
while (here can be little doubt as to
the sentiment ef Hancock and Ogle
thorpe in the next convention. The
remaining counties win prefer the
present incumbent over any name
that is net peculiarly local, and this
makes him an easy winner. The
Madisonian reflect* the sentiment of
old Morgan when it declared itself
for Reese first, last and all the time.
