MEMORIAL- ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the Ladies Memori al of Burke County, con vened at thh‘CdUrt-housc this day. Mra- Dr. A. G. Whiitehcad was elect ed Secretary, in place of Miss Philo Sturges, resigned. Upon resolution of Mr. J. D. Mun it was made the duty of the Treasurer to#Jollect fifty cents from each number of the Association as ini tiftflon fee. J. J. Jones introduced the fol lowing resolution, which was adopted: Resolved , that each lady appointed for the several churches to raise funds fpr .this Association, be requested to raisf, between this and the first Tues day ia Novemjbor, the sum of fifty dol lars; that each consider themselves specially charged with the duty of rais ing said amount; and that the Secretary furnish each lady with a copy of this Resolution. It was unanimously resolved that a OQUimittec of the following names ladies, Mrs. A. M. llodgers, Mrs. J. D. Mun uerlyn, Mrs. E. Perkins, Mrs. Dr. Green. B. Powell, and Mrs. John W. Reynolds be appointed for tho purpose of inviting the Rev. W. "Watkin Hicks to. deliver a lecture at this place for the benefit of the Association, at such time as he may designate. The following gentlemen agree to be a class of ten to contribute one hundred dollars to the Association, on the first of November next — Hon. J. J'. Jones,Judge H. 11. Capi A, M. Rodgers—and the follow ing ladies were appointed by the chair to solicit seven other SIOO contributors, viz: Mrs. J. D. Mubnerlyn, Mrs. Wm. U' Sturges, Mrs. Dr. G. B. Powell, Mrs. Judge S. A. Corker, Mrs. E. Per kins, and Mrs. W. A. Wilkins. The following named gentlemen agree to be a class to pay twenty-fire dollars each in the same manner, Mr. J. D. Munnerlyn, Mr. W. U.
