Storm, who twenty-five yearn ago. was appointed to give Mr. Beecher the right hand of follow ship ou Ids installation as pastor of Ply mouth Church. He spokaof Mr Beecher as the foremost preacher In America, nnd regretted that the gist of his seruious was not more faithfully rendered by the press. He then proceeded to relate numerous Incidents of Mr. Beecher's sparkling vivacity and ready power of re tort. ••Few tueu," continued the Doctor, •• have differed more widely lu their opin ions than Mr. Beecher and myself, It would not become me to say who was right but there can be no barm tu my say lug that be was generally wrong lie lias, os 1 have frequently told him. demoralised more young clergymen tbau any other mu in America, for many of these dolts, taking him for their model, think they have only to strut about the platform, raising their voice to a roar and then subsiding to a whisper, to become rendy-msde Beech ers, never dreaming of the fsthomlcss depth of mind that lies behind all this." Dr. Blorn then (poke, with the utrnoet fervor aud pathos, of the loDg years of frieudahtp between Mr. Beecher and him self. When other men bait only spokeu to upbraid, be hail never relent his votes except In admiration or defence. When others only w rote iu rata-or and hitteruoas, he had never put peu to paper except to encourage aud commend him. In concluding hie addrrm. he turned to Mr Beecher, aud tendering to him the right hand of fellow ship,as a quarter of a i entury ago be gave it to the young man who came to Brooklyn without money, triends, or Infiuence, to push hi* fortune among strangers, with nothing to assist him but his own surpassing genius, be spoke of tbedays gone by in a manner that left few dry eyes among his audi ence. Mr Beecher attempted to reply, but burst into tears and was compelled to stt down without speaking The Ilev. W J. PRINTING It has boon the custom hotetofoic, anil will probably remain so to a groat extent, for our merchants anti business men generally to send North to have their printing done, simply lu'cause it can be done there at a little lower figure than here. If our people would discontinue patronizing such men. they would soon see the policy, if not the jus tice, in having their work done at home. Calicos are not manufactured in the South, and hence the merchant must send where it is made, but here we have printing offices all around us. doing work at a very small advance on northern prices, and still the work is sent away.
