Our llullrtin Boiud.
Promptly lo the minute, or rather every
thirty minutes from 8 o'clock yesrterday
morning until after business hours, we
posted the market* of the United Whites
and of Orest Britain upon our bulletin
board.
The first dispatch received whs from
Chicago, giving the ruling prices of Bacon,
Hulk Meats, Flour, Graiu etc. for the day.
The next the opening price of Gold and
Cotton in New York, acccompauied with
the price of the great staple in Liverpool,
followed with the changes during the day.
Uut sveu our little telegraphic messen
ger boy could uot understand bow it was
that we posted the Liverpool market of
five o'clock r. m., at two o'clock P. m., and
could not see tbe poiut in tho explanation
that tbe dispatch got hero three hours
before it tar ted.
It is our ultimate and immediate pur
pose lo issue second, third, fifth and twenty
editions of our paper per day, or so often
as important events may require, but in
tbe meantime, our merchant* and other
mercantile men must take 1 110 time and
trouble to consult our bulletin board

tli rlliig <>l 1 It** IlonrU of Trade
ToNlklk.
It will be seen by a card elsewhere that
President llufT calls a meeting of tho Hoard
of Trade at 8 o'clock at the City llall to
night.
To tliiH mooting llie solid men of Macon,
the representatives ot our various trades,
our merchandise, our mechanics, our facto
ries and other vital interesls are most cor
dially Invited, not only to the hall, but to
tbe privileges of the floor.
These representative men of the wealth
aud tbe future policy ®f tbe city of Macon,
must virtually decide to-night the fide ol
the Macon and Knoxville 1 tail road. IV hat
they say will tie all but final. Let them
reject this road, say we do not need it —
we are not able to pay for it —and there
the matter will be committed to a Hip
Van Wlukle slumber. Hut if the Macou
Hoard of Trade, composed of men more
throughly educated iu commerce, mote
seusallve to the finest Iractlnu, than any
other distinctive class of our community,
will say to-night build this road, it will
be built.
This paper, after thorough investigation
of the subject, has uo cold water to throw
upou the undertaking—no hackiug and
filling—“now you see it and now you
don’t"—but is out and out iu favor of
building this new outlet to the .Northwest
We published yesterday morning some
valuable information on this question,
taken from the Nashville liauucr *>f the
23d. It was there staled that “ the city
was filled with freight waiting for trans
portatlou South;” that “six hundred car*
were along the line of the Chattanooga
Hoad, switched off at way stations that
•• confilllon prevailed at every point." By
Which was meant that tha existing roads
are incompetent to do the work offered
them.
Hut a hair-splitting authority before us
says . “All agree that Macon should have
water works and another route to the
West, but her ability to stand the monetary
burden required in both cases, is the vexed
question.” Hut that paper declines to tell
us whether It is iu favor or the one or ti e
other.
The decision is wholly immaterial. The
city of Macon has already determined to
build this road to Knoxvill*. to construct
a canal and factories all along it, and
to furnish her population with au adc
quate supply of water. Public opinion
has already voted affirmatively for both
propositions
