The question of Congressional representation

altogether, I fear there is little to be said in
—lie of Mr. Seward’s bargain. It seems very
pnch like Mrs. Toodles’ puchaso of the door-
plite bearing tbo name of Thompson with a
Washington correspondent of tho New
York Times telegraphed on the 2"tb as follows:
‘•Tbe President to-day expressed himself freely
fjtpivisitors upon the subject of reconstruc
tion in Gtorgia. He regards the amendment
attained by Senator Williams as the best solu

gill be settled at an early day, not alone for
fti like of the people of Georgia, bnt for the

Ibis paragraph simply indicates that Bollock
itl his old tricks again. It will be recollected
git some time since he palmed npon the Asso
rted Press, the local press, and several corres
pondents a statement in relation to the Presi
dent’s views on the Georgia question similar to
(be one given above. The President’s ntten-
I tien ins called to the publication and he indig-
untly denied having used the words ascribed
to him. Yonr correspondent was among the
fat to eipose Bullock’s treacheiy, and the re-
nit of that expose was to impair his veracity
very considerably among those he had wilfully
nided. I have reason to believe that the item
Iran the Times comes from the same sonreo as
the former report, and is entitled to just as
much credence. Thera is not, with possib’y
tee exception, another correspondent on tLo
‘•Bow’’ who would believe Bullock under oath,
or communicate to his papers anything Bollock
micht say.
United States troops are being withdrawn
from the Southern and Middle States, and sent
to the Western frontier, in anticipation of a war
vhh the Sionx Indians, concerning the magni-
tide of which the most astonnding rumors have
been industriously circulated. It i3 whispered
here, however, that these reports have little or
so foundation, and that they have been set
afloat with a view to defeating measures before
Congress for a reduction of the army. This is
not st all improbable. A formidable army lob
by has been at work here, for some time,
against Wilson's and Logan’s bills, bnt with
slight prospect of success. If there really is
any probability of an Indian war, it comes at a
very opportune time for the army. If the sto
ries now in circulation concerning tho prepara
tion of the Sionx tribe for the war-path are ea~
...mu, they are cunningly devised and well-
timed.
The President is expected to commence his
summer-rambling to-morrow. It is announced
in the court journals that he will make a trip
Sorth, returning on Monday next. On the same
authority the public are informed that the Presi
dent will bny a farm in Maryland for a summer
residence. This will make something less than
a doxen residences belonging to “ onr gifted
President” (as Mr. Mnngen, of Ohio, calls him),
welding, of course, those bestowed npon
F. S. G. by embryo cabinet officers.
He proceedings of Congress, thus far, this
week, do not call for special mention. The
tariff bill moves its slow length along, and hosts
* private bills give variety bnt little interest
to the daily proceedings. The Senate is mak-

bops, 1 however, gave them success, and the
$ef of the bandits, Konit, with eight of his

DISEASE OF THE BLOOD.
"Thelifooftheflesh in the Blood.” is a Scriptural
maxim that science proves to be true. The people
talk of bod blood, as the cause of many diseases, and
like many popular opinions this of bad blood is

founded in truth.
The symptoms of bad blood are usually quite plain
—had Digestion—causes imperfectnutrition. and con
sequently the circulation is feeble: the seft tissues
loose their toneand elasticity, and the tongue becomes
pale, broad, and frequently covered with a pasty,
white coat. This condition soon shows itself in
roughness oftho skin, then in eruptive and ulcerative
diseases, and when long continued results in serious

When the Blood is pure, you are not so liable to
any disease. Many impurities_of the Blood arise
from impure diseases oi large cities. Eradicate every
impurity from the fountain of life, and good spirits,

eases of the Kidneys and Bladder. In these affections
it is as near a specific as any remedy can be. It does
its work kindly, silently and surely. The relief which
it affords is both certain and perceptible.
DISEASES OF THE KIDNEYS and BLADDER
Persons unacquainted with thestructuro and func
tions of the Kinneys cannot estimate the importance
of their healthy actiop.
Regular end suffieftnt action of tho Kidneys is as
important, nay. even more so, than regularity of the
bowels. The Kidneys remove from the Blood those
effete matters, which, if permitted to .remain, would
speedily dostroy life. A total suspension of the uri-
narv discharges wilt occasion death from thirty six to

Meets with great success iu tbecure of diseases of the
nervous system. Almost nine-tenths of our people suf
fer from nervous exhaustion, and are, therefore, liable
to it* concomitant evils of mental, depression, con
tused ideas, softening of tbo brain, insanity and com
plete breaking down of thegeneral health. Thousands
are suffering to-day with broken down nervous sys
tems, and, unfortunately, tobacco, alcohol. late hours,
over-work, (mental and physical.) are causing dis
eases of tho nervous system to increase at a fearful
ratio.
The symptoms to which diseases of the nervous sys
tem give rise, may be stated as follows. A dull, heavy
feeling in the head, sometimes more or less sovere
pain or headache: periodical headacho, dizziness,
noises or ringing in the head: confusion of ideas;
M rary loss of memory; dejection of spirits; start-
ring sleep: bad dreams: hesitation in answer

face and arms, etc., which, if not promptly treated,
lead to paralysis, delirium, insanity, impotcncy, ap

Theso time-pieces combine every improvement that
a long experience has proved of real practical nse.
Having had tho refnsal of nearly every invention in
watchmaking originating in this conntry or in Eu
rope, only those were finally adopted which severe
testing by the most skillful artisans in our works, and
long use on the part oi the public, demonstrated to
bo essential to correct and enduring time-keeping.
Among the many improvements we would particu
larize:-
The invention and nse of a centre-pinion of pecu
liar construction, to prevent damage to the tram by
the breakage ot main springs, is original with tho
srican Watch Company, who, having had the re
fusal of all other contrivances, adopted Fogg’s Patent
pinion as being the best and faultless.
Hardened and tampered hair springs, now univer
sally admitted by watchmakers to he the best, aro
sed in all grades of Waltham Watches.
A11 Waltham Watches have dust-proof caps, pro
tecting the movement from dust and lessening the
necessity of the frequent cleaning necessary in other
Watches.
Onr new patent stem-winder, or keyless Wateh, is
already a decided success nnd a great improvement
on any stem-winding wateh in the American market
and by fat the cheapest watch of its quality bow of
fered to the public. To theso living iu portions of
the United States where watchmakers do not abound,
watches with the above mentioned improvements
improvements
which tend to insure accuracy, cleanliness, durability
and convenience, must prove invaluable.
