Tux Jfrw Factories.—The proprietors of the

rjrk upon this factory rapidly progressing. It
jj expected to be in active operation early in
the spring. Nothing wall be done in a half-way

lobition to make it a model factory. In the
K&r of the grounds is a dense grove of trees,
itough which runs several streams of water.
Xhit grove will be tamed into a park and a
place of resort for the faotory people when off

gioas chapel. The General and the Colo-

A new company is organizing to convert the
tuin building of the Laboratory into a large
ntton factory. Estimates, plans and specifics-
aliens are being made, and we are assured that
it will be carried ont. It seems to ns that, as
the necessary buildings are already bnilt and
till require little alterations, the expenditures
required would be capital splendidly invested.
We all know these factories pay better than al-
aost anything else in our country, while they
uutly contribute to the progress and prosperity
cf the people They give employment to thon-
sutds of idle hands, swell onr population, de-
rtloponr industrial resources, and contribute
largely toward making ns an independent peo

soil what they eat. Auspicious day for the
South! God speed its coming 1
Bollock and Angler's Fight—Angler,

Street Balls and Bears.
We find the following letter from Angier, Jr.,
to Angier, Sr., in the Atlanta Georgian, of
iTeanesnay:
“Gbaud Cextbax Horan,)
New York, November 16, 1870. >
“Have seen Galhonn, and think the statement
rf account, when you get it, will show that Bul
lock has been drawing on the Fourth National
loitarious thing*. The expenses of some of
the late Investigating Committees were paid in
“Clayton & Co., lithographed $2,000,000 cur
tsey bonds. They have destroyed the whole
{fate.
1 Saw Clewes yesterday, and he said he would
MnJ me a report to-day of the amount he had
tinuced to the State, holding Georgia currency
boLda as collateral.
‘The Continental Bank Note Company are
htho|>raphing the gold bonds. I do not know
iov many have been issued. I think yen had
better send me a letter, addressed to them, and
I rill ascertain the amount they have issued.”
“Later, November 17.—Clewes’ statement of
account did not come yesterday, so I went down
~is morning to see about it, and he refused to
giro me the statement, saying it was not bnsi-
ta-like, as he only knew Bullock in the
Jusactions.
“I have been very particular in speaking of
'bo new Georgia bonds to give the law in rela-
-on to signing coupons, and also, that the law,
luthorizing the gold bonds to bo issued, does
cot change tho law regulating the signing of
sapons. Tbon, I lot them draw their own con
tusions. Alton Angies.”
The Columbus Enquirer of Wednesday, gives
ia following account of a brutal attempt at
«sassination:
Bloody Affair in Bussell County.—On Sun
day night last an unknown person went to the
iouso of Mr. A. J. Harris, who is cropping with
Ilr. Wn. H. Chambers, in Bussell county, Ala.,
b> the vicinity of Hnrtville, called him to the
«ite, and while there fired upon him five times
rith a pistol, the Bhots taking effect in the
'tomach and bowels of Mr. Harris. A boy in
the house hearing the firing, ran ont with a
double barrel gun and fired upon the assailant
os he ran, whether with or without effect was
aot known. The boy a3 well as Mr. Harris be-
-eres the attacking party to have been a negro.
Hr. Harris was alivo at last accounts, though it
vas feared his wounds would prove mortal.
The affair ia said to havo created great excite
ment in tho neighborhood, and the whole pop-
:lace hod turned ont to hunt up tho offender,
vhom it was believed would bo hung if caught.
Bullock must be having a high old time in
Yew York, judging from tho following para-

The Pasty fkom Georgia.—The weighty mat

mr virtnons Governor in-New York city, and to

Another New Bane.—We understand that
the direct object of the late visit of Secretary
Delano and Senator Cameron to Georgia was to
invest one million dollars in bank stock in onr
State. In other words, they design establishing
a largo bank in Savannah, with a branch in Ma
con. It is also said Mr. W. C. Morrill will be
the agent, or president of tho Macon Bank.
To all of which we have not the slightest ob
jection. Money can in reality be more profit
ably employed in Georgia than, perhaps, any
where else ia the Union. Wo need a vast deal
more banking capital than ws have have to de
velop the resources of the State. The addition
of tho one million of Messrs. Delano and Cam
eron will help U3 along considerably.
The Local Market.—Our fresh meat markets

were worth twelve and fifteen cents on foot,
'they ara how selling for eight and nine, and it

T7C7E fee1 that we cannot do a better servioe than
Yv to raise a voice of warning against the indis
criminate use of Patent Medicine*, whose name ia
now Legion, a large majority of which ara pat upon
tee market by ignorant quacks, who do not actually
know anything of medicine. Many of these so-callea
remedies are of no value whatever, and some are
very dangerous, being recommended for diseases
which they invariably aggravate, thus increasing the
suffering and often producing lasting disability or
shorten tee life of tee individual.
As druggists and dealers, we are compelled to
buy and sell these nostrums, which we do for Just
what they are. As a protection to tee people from
gross imposition, and from the Buffering that is
often entailed on them by tee use of tee class of
nostrums above mentioned, we have prepared and
offer teem a few strictly Pore Family Medicines.
The formula for these medicines are a’ll published,
and it will be seen they are all articles of merit.
Persons who take medicine without the advice of a
physician would do well to give these tee prefer

pared by persons who have had long years Of expe
