■^^THEREAS, Official information has been re
ceived at this Department that on the night
the Iasi
of the 22d inst, being the last day of the election,
tbo ballot-box at Morgan, the county site of
Caibonn county, was stolen from the Grand Jury
room in the Court-houBe of said county, where the
eamo had been deposited by three of the Managers
appointed to hold the election at said precinct, after
having securely fattened tho windows and locked
the door, evidently for the purpose of interfering
with the resnlt of the election; and
Wheroas, It is alleged that some unknown person
or persons ascended to the window on the onteide
of tbo room by means of a ladder and entered the
said room, stealing and carrying away the said bal
ls t-box ; and
Whereas, It is reported by the said Managers
holding the election at the precinct aforesaid, that
the offering of a suitable reward is essential as a
means of insuring the arrest and conviction of the
said person or persons, at present unknown, who,
it is alleged, have committed this great outrage
against the elective franchise and against tho laws
of this State and of the United States:
