Its Cure and Its Preventive.
By J. H. SCIJEIVOlC, M. D.
' t ,f ANY a human being has passed away, for whose
. XL death there was no other reason than the neglect
of known and indisputably proven means of cure.
Those near and dear to family and friends are sleep-
in g the dreamless slumber into whieh, had they calmly
adopted •—.•in el T
OK. JOSEPH H. SCOENCK’S SIMPLE
TREATMENT.
and availed themselves of hia wonderful efficacious
medicines, they would not have fallen. Dr. Schenck
has in bis own case proved that wherever sufficient
vitality remains, that vitality, by his medicines and
his directions for their use, is quickened into health
ful vigor.
In this statement there is nothing presumptuous.
To the faith of the invalid is made no representation
that is not a thousand times substantiated by Bring
and visible works. The theory of the cure by Dr.
Scheuck’s medicines is as simple as it is unfailing.
Its philosophy requires no argument. It is self-
a? suring, self-convincing.
The Senwood Tonic and Mandrake Pills are the first
two weapons with which the citadel of the ma'ady is
assailed. Two-thirds of the cases of consumption
originate in dyspepsia and a functionally disordered
liver. }V ith this condition the bronchial tubes ’'sym
pathise” with the stomach, They respond to the
morbific action of the liver. Here then comes the
culminating result, and the setting in, with all its dis
tressing symptoms, of
CONSUMPTION.
Tho Mandrake Pills are composed of one of Nature's
noblest gifts—the Podophiilum teltatum. They.poj-
sess all the blood-searching, alterative properties of
calomel, but unlike calomel, they
“LEAVE NO STING BEHIND.”
The work of cure is now beginning. The vitiated
and mucous deposits in the bowels and in the ali
mentary canal are ejected. The liver, like a clock, is
wound up. It arouses from its torpidity. The stom
ach acts responsively, and the patient begins to feel
th3t he is getting, at last,
A SUPPLY OF GOOD BLOOD.
The Seaweed Tonio, in conjunction with the Pills *
permeates and assimilates with the food. Chylifiea-
tion is now progressing without its previous tortures.
Digestion becomes painless, and the cure is seen to be
at hand. There is no moreflatulooce, no excerbation
of the stomach. An appetite sets in.
No it comes the greatest Blood Parifier ever yet
given by an indulgent father to suffering man.
Scheuck’s Pulmonic Syrnp comes in to perform its
functions and to hasten and complete the cure. It
enters at once upon its work. Nature cannot be
cheated. It collects and ripens the impaired and dis
eased portions of the Inngs. In the form of gather
ings. it prepares them for expectoration, and lo 1 in a
very short timo the malady is vanquished, the rotten
throne that it occupied is renovated and made new,
and the patient, mail the dignity of regained vigor,
steps forth to enjoy the manhood or the womanhood
that was
GIVEN VP AS LOST.
The second thing is, the patients must stay in a
farm room until they get well; it is almost impossi-
ilo to prevent taking cold when the lungs are dis
eased, but it must bo prevented or a cure cannot bo
effected. Fresh air and riding out, especially in this
section of the country in tho fall and winter season,
are all wrong. Physicians who reeommend that
course lose their patients, if their Inngs are badly
diseased, and yet, because they are in tho honse they
u;u-t not sit down quiet: they must walk about the
room as mnch and as fast as the strength will bear, to
get up a good circulation of blood. The pationts
most keep in good spirits—be determ'-ned to get well.
This has a great deal to do with the appetite, and is
the great point to gain. To despair of cure after such
evidence of its possibility in tho worst cases, and
moral certainty in allotbers, is sinful. Dr.Echecck’s
personal statement to the Faculty of his own cure
wax in these modest words:
’’Many yoars ago I was in the last stages of con
sumption, confined to my bed. and at one time my
physicians thought that I could not live a week: then
like a drowning man catching at straws, I hesrdof
and obtained the preparations which I tow offer to
the public, and they made a perfect cure of me. It
seemed to me that I could feel them penetrate my
whole system. They soon ripened tho matter in my
inngs. and I would spit up more than a pint of offen
sive yellow matter every morning for along time.
As soon as that began to subside, my cough, fever,
pain and night sweats all began to leave me, and my
a petite became so great that it was with difficulty
at i could keep from eating too much. 1 soon
gained my strength and have grown in flesh ever
since."
“I was weighed shortly after my recovery,” added
the Doctor, “then looking like a mere skeleton; my
weight was only ninety-seven pounds; my present

bathe freely the stomach and bowels with the Fain
Killer dear. Should the di&rrLce or cramps con-

until the patient is relieved. In extreme cases,
two or more teaspoonfule may be given at a dose.
The Fain Killor, as an internal remedy, has no
equal. In cues of cholera, summer complaints,
dyipepeia, dysentery, asthma, it cures in one night
by taking it internally, and bathing with it freely,
hi action is like magic, when externally applied to
old tores, bnms, scalds, and sprains. For sick
headache and tootb&ce, don't fail to try it. In

cough loosens, the night sweat is abated. In a short
