Where Utters and serpents prevsilod.

That aomething wonld carry iter off.

And eren be happy yet.

And the black alpaca robs.

Of ber next dafljr trial of Job.

When he leaped to Uie crest of a chalky ledge.
And pranced like a kangaroo.
And many a jubilant peal bo scut

Turning somersaults, homeward to tea.
Orax ron NeuronsBcadacue.—A well-known
Kentucky minister, subject to severe spell* of
nervous headache, was in our office the other
dey, says an exchange, during one of those at
tacks. Major Brown, of Mexico, was present,
and proposed to relievo him in fivo minutes,
which he did most effectually. The following
is the prescription : Take a desert-spoonful of
common soda, such as is used in making bread,
and dissolve it thoroughly In a quart of cold
water. Wllh this thoroughly shampoo the head
for about live minutes, scratching the skin of
the hesd and the heck of tho neck well with the
finger-nails. Then rinse tbo bead with dean,
cold water. Major Brown says that bo has used
this remedy in perhaps a thousand eases since
1853, and never once failed to give relief in five
or ten minute*. This remedy is for nervous
hesdsohe, «nd is not for Uiosa affection* of
the bead anting from deranged stomscha.—
