The unhlie -Sl«t of himlnl pnyperfy in various part* of the State, made no Tuesday last and reported in our ex- changes, exhibit generally a decided ad vance in value. It may aafely be said that this description of property now commands neuriy or quite .doable the prices that conlil have been obtained 4b year ego. This is an eneeeragtng mark ■>f Siutbern recuperation. There ia, we think, no reaeon to feer that the ad vance of real eetato will be a treated. Crisis or coovnlsioos in momentary af fairs and general bnainem may for a time stop the demand for Southern lands, bul that the advance .will be steadily main tained is hardly a matter of doubt. The truth is lands in the cotton region have never brong^tthe prices that the^pro- dactivenegaand profit-in unlturejoattVid. Lands in thd North and Northwest, from which the profit could bJRerived as from good cotton lauds in the South,; have for some time commanded from $50 to $100 per acre, and the day- is probably not fur distuut. when the same prices will be paid for good lands ip the cotton region.—Columbus Enquirer. Lands in Georgia have advanced,, oa an average, not rnuoh short of 300 .per cent, in the last two years. A financier was lamenting hia luck, the other day, in having bought railroad stock instead of lauds two years ago. He was tbeupn tlie (joint of buyiug a plantation at five dollars au acre, but was afraid of it;, and it haa since been sold at seventeen dol lars an acre. All the time this bee hums in hia head: 2500 acres of land bought at $5.00 per acre—$12,500. Bold at $17, 00 an acre—$42,500; amount lost, $30, 000. This gives him the cholic every time he thinks of it, besides a pain in the head. Bat seventeen dollars an acre is no price for good land in Georgia. There is an abundant murgin, and.when the price gets up to fifty dollars au acre we can begin to consider.—Macou 2de- graph. Printers and Paradoxes. A priuter is the m ist curious being living.
