To Young .Men in Search of Office.
—The failure of the House to organize has
had a peculiar tendency on the faces and
pockets of several hundred able-bodied
young men who have followed in the wake
of mcHibt rs to this city in hopes of step

in Washington to-dav two thousand voung

them are here’ dead broke, without money
sufficient to pay a week’s hoard, and no
means of returning, living on their friends.
| A few will be appointed, many disap

I country s 5 or their own good. Our advice
to those who may he contemplating a visit
of search here, is to unpack their valise,
1 ut on their homespun suit, sell their rail
road ticket, buy an axe, go into the woods,
i work out their own position, and grow up

buttons on the coat-tail of some office-hol

This i a fast city. The inducemehts

deviation. He who can withstand the temp
tations of “city life,’ has thatinhim which
will carry him on to a brighter success else
where than is often attained here, as thou

voung men—stay at home. Don’t come
