We hope the Locomotive will come

profit by its sparks. We know the Loco

less the boiler bursts, all the passengers
with “through tickets,” will arrive safely.

One of the greatest Churches of the
country —eminent for its learning and abil

grand scheme for the accomplishment of
this great and pressing want. They have
not only set it on foot, but they have so
tar accomplished it. that success is within
their grasp. They have already four hun
dred thousand dollars, subscribed by only
sixty persons. They want §500,000 to be
giu with, and they have sent the eminent
divines, already named, upon this great
mission of benevolence and charity. They
are here among us for this purpose, and
we hope that the very many wealthy and
intelligent people, in this section of Ala
bama, will show their appreciation of this
most important enterprise by liberal sub

at length into the subject, and give extracts

the purposes and designs of the Institu

the Board of Trustees, in favor of the pres

Latest from Halifax—the Steamship
Hungarian a Total Loss.
Halifax, Feb. 22.—The Hungarian is
a total wreck on Cape ledge, only a small
portion ut her hull being visible at low
water.
Nothing like news for the press, unless
by her mails, a small portion ot which was
saved in a damaged condition. One pass
enger ticket was found with the name of
Eiicii Sheham on it. A dispatch to the
Canard Company, from Cape Sable, says
the steamer’s lights were seen on Cape j
Lodge at 3 o’clock Monday morning. At |
day-break her spurs and smokestack were j
standing, but at ten o’clock had all gone.-
The ship settled very last, but with a tre
mendous sea running mountains high,
breaking over the wreck, communication ,
with the shore was impossible.
All hands must have been lost unless .
boats left before day, which is, however, 1
unlikely.
