IhcHMONn, Dec 10.—The Examiner of
tin s morning says Congress, in secret ses
sion, has pass a bill admitting Kentucky
into the Southern Confederacy. The ad
mission is complete, and Commissioners
are appointed at Russellville empowered
to act in lediuif of Kentucky.

Hahersham. of Georgia, has been arrested
in Baltimore.
Passeng.'is report a skirmizh on last
Sunday between C *l. Ashby's (Va) com
mand and the Eedetals. Federal loss. 80
captured and 15 killed : and 20 wagons !
taken.
Richmond, 10th.-—The Examiner of
this morning lent ns that a bill has passed
Congress, in secret session, gtanting a
bounty <dtit y dollars to privates and non
commisrioned officers who shall serve con
tinuoulv three years, or during the war,
to be paid at the end of their firs!; term, to
those re-enlisting for the next two years.
The hill also provides that, sixty days’
furlough with transportation home and
back shall he given to the twelve 1110111118’
men who re-enlist for the war, or two years
after the expiration of their presen term.
It is understood that the hill provipes
that troops re-enlisting shall, at the end
oi their present term of service, have power
to organize themselve into companies, and
elect their own officers, and said companies
shall he allowed to organize themselves in
to battalions <p- regiments and elect their
own held officers.

Arrested.
Wm. G Brownlow was arrested yester
day upon a charge of treason on a warrant
ordered by the C. S. Sataes Commissioner,
and danvn up by ihe District Attorney.—
He has been committed to jail. Ilis trial j
will come up in due course, before the Con- j
federate Court —perhaps next week. The !
rumor ot an order from the War Depart
ment for his safe conduct to the North, in
the last two days, has created intense ex
citement throughout this country, especial i
lv among those who have friends and rela- ;
tives now languishing in prison on account ;
of his teachings.— Knoxville licg., 7th.
Getting tired of Hostilities.
Mr. Sauls, of Delaware, in the Senate,
offered a preamble and resolutions in rela
tion to theaifahsof the country. The

A man who dislikes broom-handles, ,

on a red-beaded woman’s carpet.
Seizure of in Albany.
dhe Albany Patriot, ot the sth, says
! t hirty sacks of salt was shipped a few days
since, by Messrs. Fears & Swanson, of
Macon, to the House of T. J. Boynton,
of Albany, with instructions that the same
,be sold so as to net them ten dollars per
sack, the price at which it was selling for
in Macon. The (iovenor hearing of the
; shipment, gave instructions to the Super
intendent of theS. VV. Railroad, to retain
the salt for public use at five dollars per
, sack. The course pursued by the Gov
nor in this respect seems to he applaud
ed by some and censured by others.
A letter from Colt harp, Texas, says:

eatables. We have bread and meat in
plenty. Corn is worth from thirty to fifty
cents per bushel—pork tom to six cents per
pound, bend on your emigrants :we can
j fced them all, if they are ot the Confeder
ate stamp.”
