♦Are not these classes counted twice—Editor. I
Sun Strokk, or Coup or Solkil.—We no
tice an article on this subject in the American
Medical Monthly, in vs bich it is said many fa
tal errors are commifed in the first moments
ol a.aim on the occurrence of this accident—
errors, the evil consequences of which all the
subsequent skill and caie of the physician are '
sometimes ineffectual in remedying. The prom- |
inent synrj} t us ol the attack are giddiness and I
laintnesSj amounting in some instances to com- {
plete insensibility or apparent death. The med- j
ical journal gives the following advice-
O' 1 tie first and the best thing to he accom- j
ji'.ished is to remove the patient into a cool room !
or shady spot, laying him carefully on the back, 1
with the head very slightly, if at all raised. I
Send for aphytunpn. Sprinkle the face with
coo! water, untie all s‘rings, handkerchiefs or
bandages lroin the throat, chest or waist. Rub '
the hands a;,d leet briskly, and if the patient
can swallow, administer a little brandy and wa- ’
ter, or a little sp.nts oi hartshorn in water, in i
small quantifies at a tone. Promote free respira- i
tion by tanning and pr-vt nting the crowding of '
persons around. Prevent strenuously the drink- 1
ing of iaige draughts of cold w ater, however nr- j
gent the request ot the patient mey be, until re- !
action takes place. It there should beany delay
in the arrival ot a ; t y.-ician. and the patient
should not rally‘the rubbing o: the limbs must be
continued, atnlina dhtion, mustard poltices may
be applied over tl <> soles oi the feet and pit ot the '
stomach: an emetic ot mustare! and water may~f
be administered particularly it the patient, as is
tooof’en the case, immediately previousto hissei- I
zure, has bren drinking cold wate: in large quan- '
ty. Such precautions, judiciously, consistently, j
and persevcringly used, will frequently restore ■
animation and produce reaction, afier which the j
patient must bi- treated by a physician,”.

DENNIS’ ANTI-SPASMODIC TINCTURE.
all sudden and dangerous attacks of Dis
. ease, such as Fits or Convulsions: Apoplexy
Lock-Jaw ; Cramp Colic ; Cholera; Pneumonia;
Hydrophobia; Bite of Snakes, and other danger
ous cases of Poisons, and all other diseases in
which immediate action is necessary.
This Tincture produces its effect by equalizing
the circulation of the Blood, and by relieving in
flammation. Its effect in relieving inflammation,
either internal or external, makes it useful in a
great variety of diseases.
For Fever and Ague, or Chills, it is almost an
infallible remedy.
Diluted with syrup or honey, it is useful for
Colds and all affections of the Lungs, arising from
colds, such as Cough, Croup, Asthma, Difficulty in
Breathing, Ac.
As an external remedy, in fresh Cuts, Wounds,
Bruises, Burns, Scalds, Bite of Snakes, Sting of
Bees, or Bite of poisonous Insects, it prevents .in
flammation, and greatly rel evcs the soreness.
Used as a wash in eruptivo diseases, such as
Scald Head, Ringworm, or diseases which cause an
itching sensation upon the skin, it soon produces a
healthy action. When thus used, the Georgia Sar
saparilla should be taken to purify the blood.
For Horses, and other animals, this article will
bo found invaluablo for Bruises, Cuts, Gail§, Fistu
la, Ac. For Colic, and various other dangorous
attacks, it rarely fails to cure even the worst cases.
This is the most active medicine in use, yet it
may be givon without danger of injury. Jt seldom
fails, in dangerous cases, to cause an immediate re
action in the system. After i; has caused a reac
tion, it may bo followed by such other medicines
as the situation of '.he patient mav indicate.

Inflamed and bleeding gums are immediately I
