FACTS CAW NOT BE DOUBTED
MORE than 500 persons in the city of Richmond,
Va., alone testify to the remarkable cures per
formed by
CARTER’S SPANISH MIXTURE.
The great Spri g Medicine and Purifier of the Blood
is now used by hundreds of grateful patients, who tes
tify daily to the remarkable cures performed by the
greatest of all medicines. Carter’s Spanish Mixture.
Neuralgia, Rheumatism, Scrofula, Eruptions on the
Skin, Liver Disease, Fevers. Ulcers. Old Sores. Affections
of the Kidneys, Diseases of the Throat, Female Com
plaints, Pains and Aching of the Bones and Joints, are
speedily put to flight by using this great and inestima
ble remedy.
For all diseases of the Blood, nothing has yet been
found to compare with it. It cleanses the system of
all impurities, acts gently and efficiently on the Liver
and Kidneys, strengthens the Digestion, gives tone to
the Stomach, makes the Skin clear and healthy, and
restores the Constitution, enfeebled by disease or bro
ben down by the excesses of youth, to its pristine vigor
and s' rength.
For the Ladies, it is incomparably better than all the
cosmostics ever used. A few doses of Carter's Spanish
Mixture will remove all sallowness of complexion,
bring the roses mantling to the*cheek, give elasticity to
the step, and impr. ve the general health in a remarka
ble degree, beyond all the medicines ever heard of.
A large number of certificates of remarkable cures
performed on persons residing in the cit; of Richmond,
Va., by the use of Carter s Spanish Mixture, is the best
evidence that there is no humbug about it. The preps,
hotel keepers, magistrates, physicians, and public men,
well known to the community, all add their testimony
to the effects of this Great Blood Purifier.

ASK for HAMPTON S VEGETABLE TINCTURE.
The many cures made by this pleasant and safe
remedy may induce counterfeiting.
A medicine must have merit, and great merit too, to a
stand the test of public opinion. No art of puffing can
galvanize a worthless article, so as to keep it up as a
good medicine, if it be not really so.
A good medicine will live, become popular, and ex
tend its sales year after year, in spite of opposition.
The people readily find out its virtues, and the fame of
them passes from mouth to mouth with more rapidity
ban newspapers can spread it. A living witness testi
fying to the cure a medicine has made for him, is of
far more service than any newspaper advertising.

AFFLICTED BRAD! ~
Philadelphia medical house—Established2o
years ago. by Dr. Kinkelin, corner of Third and
Union Streets, between Spruce and Pine. Philadelphia.
Invalids are apprised that Dr. Ivinkelin confines his
practice to a particular branch of medicine, which en
gages his undivided attention. He cautions the unfor
tunate against the abuse of mercury ; thousands are
annually mercurialized out of life. Recent affections
are promptly extinguished.
Twenty- years of experience in the treatment of a
class of diseases hitherto neglected and imperfectly un
derstood, lias em-bl d Dr. Kinketin, (author of a work
o.r Self Preservation.) tp prove that nine tenths of ihe
causes of faervous debility, local and constitutional
weakness, mental and physical suffering, are traceable
to certain habits, forming ‘he most secret yet deadly
and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature
mortality.
Take Particular Notice. —There is an evil habit some
times indulged in by boys, in solitude, oftep growing
up with them to manhood, and which, if not reformed
in due time, not only begets serious oostacles to matri
monial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protract
ted, insidious, and devastating affections. Few of those
who give way to this pernicious practice are aware of
the consequences, until they find the nervous system
shattered, ;eel strange and unaccountable feelings, and
vague fears in the mind.
The unfortunate thus affected becomes feeble, is una
ble to labor with accustomed vigor or to apply his
mind to study ; his step is tardy and weak, he is dull,
irresolute, and engages in his sport with leas energy
than usual.
If he emancipate himself before the practice has
done its worst, and enter matrimony, his marriage is
unfruitful, and his sense tells him that this is cau-ed by
his early follies. These are considerations which should
awaken the attention of those similarly situated,
Marriage requires the fulfilment of several condi
tions, in order that it may be really the cause of mutu
al happiness. Could the veil vi hic’n covers the origin
of domestic wretchedness he ralsx d, and ts true source
in every instance disclosed—in how many- could it be
traced to physical disqualifications anu their attendant
disappointments! Apply then while it is yet time, in
order to have y-our unstrung and relaxed organization
rebraced, revivified and strengthened.
Remember, he who places himself under Dr. Kinke
lin's treatment may religiously confide in his honor as
a gentleman and ely upon the assurance, that the se
cret- of Dr. K.’s patients will never be disclosed.
Youna man—let no false modesty de : er you from
mzkiflg your case known to one who, from education
auu*respectability, can certainly befriend you.
Two many thiuk they wiii conceal the secret in their
own hearts, and cure themselves. Alas! how often is

READ THE FOLLOWING CERTIFCATE.
Tallapoosa County. Ala., Jan. 2,1862.
Dear Sir :—l sond you this to certify to you that
your Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla, has per
formed one if Ihe most wonderful Cures on me that
has ever been effected on man.
I have been afflicted for forty years with eruptions
on my legs and feet; in 1848 they got so bad that I had
to go on crutches, and in 1849 1 had one leg amputated
above the knee. In about nine months after my other
leg broke out in large eating and running sores from
my knee to my foot, and discharged a great deal of of
fensive matter. My groin also broke out in large biles.
Which dischaiged much offensive matter, and at the
same time my left hand broke out in large running
sores nearly to my elbow.
The misery that 1 have suffered for the last two years
I cannot describe to you. I was in such agony that I
neverrested day or night.
In October last my son brought me one of your bot
tle wrappers; I read it. and found record of some won
derful cures performed by your " Extract of Yellow
i oek and Sarsaparilla.” I sent and got two bottles of
it, and commenced taking it. In two weeks, to my
great astonishment, my sores all became easy, and I
couid sleep all night, a thing I had not done for two
years. When I had taken six bottles, my sores had
enarly all healed. My sores got well as if by enchant
ment. I have now used, in all, eight bottles of your
Extract of Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla,” and I now
ousider myself well.
I entreat all of the afflicted to try this Medicine, for
believe it will cure any known disease in the world
hay asideall prejudice and just try if. and proc aim its
real worth to suffering mankind, and entpeat them to
take it, for it will curethem.
My case is well known in a large portioh of South
Carolina, Georgia and Alabama, and if any should doubt
ilie above cure, I invite them to call on me, and I will
show them the scars. I can be found in Tallapoosa
County, Alabama, one mile from S toe’s Ferry.
RJENAJATI HUGHES.
The Yellow Dock and Sarsaparilla is peculiarly adap
ted for females of del cato health, resulting from ir
regularities of menstrual discharges, and other diseases
peculiar to their sex. The proprietor has in his posses
sion a great number of certificates of cures performed
of the above description. We assure the afflicted, that
a bottle or two of Dr. Guysott’s Extract of Yellow
Dock and Sarsaparilla will at once regulate those diffi
culties and renew the natural energies.

FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A
FAMILY PHYSIC.
There has long existed a public demand for at
effective purgative pill which could be relied on ai
sure and perfectly safe in its operation. This hai
been prepared to meet that demand, and an exten
sive trial of its virtues has conclusively shown witl
what success it accomplishes the purpose designed
It is easy to make a physical pill, but not easy t<
make the best of all pills —one which should have
none of the objections, but all the advantages, of
every other. This has been attempted here, anc
with what success we would respectfully submit tc
the public decision. It has been unfortunate foi
the patient hitherto that almost every purgativ<
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the bow
els. This is not. Many of them produce so much
griping pain and revulsion in the system as to mor<
than counterbalance the good to be derived from
them. These pills produce no irritation or pain
unless it arise from a previously existing obstruc
tion or derangement in the bowels. Being purely
vegetable, no harm can arise from their use in any
quantity ; but it is better that any medicine shoulc
be taken judiciously. Minute directions for theii
use in the several diseases to which they are ap
plieable are given on the box. Among the com
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, w«
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various form*
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Loss of Ap
petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Headache
Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Pain in the Side
and Loins; for, in truth, all these are but the con
sequence of diseased action in the liver. As an
aperient, thev afford prompt and sure relief in Cos
tiveness, Piles, Colic, Dysentery, Humors, Scrof
ula and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the body,
Ulcers and impurity of the blood; in short, any
and every case where a purgative is required.
They have also produced some singularly suc
cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravei
Erysipelas, Palpitation of the Heart, Pains in the
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freely
taken in the spring of the year, to purify the hlooo
and prepare the system for the change of seasons.
An occasional dose stimulates the stomach anc
bowels into healthy action, and restores the appe
tite and vigor. They purify the blood, and, bv then
stimulant action on the circulatory system, reno
vate the strength of 0e body, and restore the
wasted or diseased energies of the whole'organism.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, even
though no serious derangement exists; but un
necessary dosing should never he carried too far,
as every purgative medicine reduces the strength,
when taken to excess. The thousand cases in which
a physic is required cannot be enumerated here. bul
they suggest themselves to the reason of every
body; and it is confidently believed, this pih nri
answer a better purpose than any thing which hut
hitherto been available to mankind. When then
virtues are once known, the public will no longei
doubt what remedy to employ when in need of f
cathartic medicine. Being sugar-wrapped they art
pleasant to take, and being purely vegetable, nt
harm can arise from their use in any quantil v.

SSOO CHALLENGE.
HOBENSAUK’S WOKM SYRUP —An article
founded upon Scientific Principles, compound
j ed with purely Vegetable substances, being per
j foctly safe when taken, and has never been known
| to fail in curing the most obstinate case. Worrns
i can never exist when this remedy is once used,
from the fact that it not only destroys them but
removes all the slime and mucus which may re
main.
. THE TAPE WORM.
This worm is the most difficult one to destroy of
all that inhabit the human body. It grow 3to an
almost indefinite length, and becoming so coiled
and fastened in the intestines and stomach as to
produce fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, &c., which is the
cause of many going to the grave, not believing
that these complaints have their origin from the
Tape Worm; consequently they do not use the
proper medicines for their disease. To those who
are afflicted with this awful foe to health, I recom
mend the use of my Worm Syrup, and Liver,Pills,
the Syrup to be taken in doses of two table spoon
fuls three times a day, then take from five to eight
of my Liver Pills, to dislodge and pass the worm.
By strictly following these directions, the most ob
stinate cases of Tape Worm can be speedily cured.
ROUND OR STOMACH WORM.
This worm is usually found in the small intes
tines, and is thewormmost common to children,
yet it is not entirely confined to them, as adults
have frequently been known to suffer with them.
The Symptoms most prominent while affected with
this worm, are hardness and fullness of the belly,
slimy stools, looseness of the bowels, picking at the
nose, a blueish streak under the eyes, Ac. If you
or any of your children have any of the above
symptoms. HORENSaCK’S WORM SYRUP can
safely be depended upon—by using it ycu have a
certain, safe, and speedy cure; and if alter using
t according to the diiections, the patient is Dot
restored to health, and the worms thoroughly era
dicated from the system, you can rest assured there
is no remedy beyond the grave, as for f til, there is
no such word as fail with those who use my Worm
Syrup.
ASCABIDES OK SMALL THREAD WORMS
These worms, to which the human system is lia
ble, aro the most troublesme of all others. They
are generally to bo loundin tho rectum, and if al
lowed to remain, from the irritation they produce,
lay the foundation for serious disorders, such as
inflammation of the bowels, and other derange
ments of the stomach. The best and safest medi
cine that can be used is HOBENSACK’S WORM
SYRUP. Such is the astonishing power of my
medicines over Ascaradies, that 1 defy any one tc
produce a case whero my Worm Syrup and Liver
Pills aro recom mended to boused they will not cure,
All that is necessary is to use the Syrup in accord
anco with directions on each bottle, and in case a
gentle purgative is required in order to allay tee
irritation thoy produce, tho Liver Pills by their
sympathizing action and healthy operation upon
the bowels, is the most pleasant medicine that can
be taken.

organization is at once braced, re-vivified ami built up.
The mental and physical symptoms of nervous disease
vanish together under its influence. Nor is the effect
temporary, on the contrary the relief is permanent—

constitution itself, and restoies it to its normal condi
