Mrs. Morrell Wins
Big Damage Suit.
Sylvania, Ga., Jnly 24—In the
damage suit of Mrs. J, B. Morrel
against the Sylvania Railroad Co.,
and the Sylvania-Girard Railroad in
amount of $20,000 for injuries alleg
ed to have been sustained by a fall
ing seat in the waiting room at Syl-l
vania in September, 1908, the jury
today found a verdict in favor of the
plaintiff. 1
Intense interest was shown by
both sides and the case was hard
fought. The plaintiff was represen
ted by E. K. Overstreet, and defend
ant by White & Lovett and J. W.
Overstreet. Judge H. B. Strange, of
Statesboro, presided. ‘
Short Weights Led to Arrest
Atlanta, July 24.—John Trice, a
negro ice driver, was fined for giv
ing short weights to the firemen.
He had been selling 20 pounds and
representing that he was' giving 25
pounds. The case was reported by
‘the firemen at headquarters.
