Greenville, S. C., that their trip
to New York in Mr, Dorminey’s
automobile is proving most en
joyable, and that so far they have
encountered no uppleasant condi
itions.

Friends of Col, and Mrs. Tom
Wilson will be interested to know
that their visit in Reno, Nev.,
'where they are the grests of their
daughter and husband, Mr. and
Mrs. B. F. Knapp, is proving
most beniticiary to the health of
the colonel- They state that both
are feeling fine, out that the cold
weather is rather hard on them,
especially at this time of the year
when they have been accustomed
to a high temperature.

Mrs. Lidia Ivey Bryan, of Moul
trie, Ga,, composed a party who
spent Sunday at St. Simons, the
Misses Shaffer remaining over in
Brunswick until Monday with
their sister Mrs. J. H. Barnes, Jr.
Mrs. F. H. Logue and daugh
ters, Ruth and Esther, and son
Hollis, will depart Wednesday for
their home in Fort Wayne, Ind.,
after spending several weeks
with Mrs. Logue’s sister, Mrs.
H. L. Beauchamp, on S. Main
Street.

chaperoned a small natatetial party
out to Lake Beatrice last evening,
the trip being made by automo
bile. After a very refreshing
swim in the bathing pool, a de
hcious lunch wasspread. Besides
the chaperones, the party includ

Loren Dickerson, Lawrence Glov
er and Pinkie Koplin.

The C. U. V. U. Club held its
monthly social at the home of Mr.,
Harry Beaucamp on S. Main St.
last Thursday night.
The rooms were beautifully
decorated in the club colors, red
and white. Numerous games
were played, and lunch was serv
ed throughout the evening, after
which a delicious course of re
freshments was served.

Attempts Suicide
Simpson Eperson, a young
white man in the employ of the
Cherokee Marble Works, attempt
ed suicide between twelve and one
o’clock to-day, by swallowing an
ounce of carbolic acid. The almost
fatal dose was taken at his board
ing place, corner of Thomas ard
Oconee streets, and the doctor
states he can hardly live.
He has a mother and half-brother
in Cordele, who have been noti
fied. No motive for the rash act
can be assigned, |
