penny of which. according to his
sworn statement flled with the
comptroller g neral today, he sup
plies out of tis own funds.
At the end of his statement he
says that he understands that cer
wsin friends of his in Gainesville
spent about $l5O in Hali county,
but was done without his knowl
edge or consent. Mr. Perry’s big
gest single item was $4,192.35 for
newspaper advertising. and he
adds to that statement the observa
tion, ‘*‘no money used to procure
support or favorable commezt or
editorials in any paper,”’
One of the most elaborate state
ments ever filed by a candidate,
was that submitted by Hooper
Alexander, of DeKalb, who carri
ed two counties in his race for
governor,
Mr. Alexander swears to a total
expenditure of $2,250.67. He be
gins with his personal expendi
tures, amounting to $683.32, which
include $2OO for the entrance fee.
Fricnds in Atlanta contributed
$1,411 and there was a deficit of
about $4OO bere, which Mr. Alex
ander paid, Friends in Wavcross
contributed $102.25, and in Rome
$63 lle goes into an infinite
amount of detail.
A, O. Blalock, defeated for
commissioner of agriculture, spent
$1,676 50, all of which came from
his own funds.
Judge W. R. Joues, defeated
for attorney general, spent $1,327.-
15, all of which was his own mon
ey, except $425, contributed by

Today wound up the time for
candidates to file statements, and

Cordele, Sept. 10—Seeking to
recov.r $5,000 damages for the
loss of his wife’s services as a re
sult of injuries sustained in a run
away accident, alleged to bhave
been caused by the carelessness of
A. E. Jordan, of Vienna. in the
operation of his automobile, M. S,
Carroll, also of Vienna, has filed
suit in the Dooly superior court
for hearing before Judge Walter
K. George at the November term.
In addition to this suit Mrs.
Carroll has filed suit for damages
in the ameunt of $lO,OOO. The ac
cident is alleged to have occurred
several days ag> when Mr. Jordan
traveling by auto met Mrs, Car
roll and her daughters in a buggy
between Vienna and Byromville,
The plaintiffs will be represented
at the hearing by Judge F. G.
Boatright and Crum & Jones, of
| Cordele.
Atlanta Recorder
Gets Vagrants
Atlanta, Sept. 12.—Alderman
Maddox, acting as recorder for
only one day, has sent forty va
grants, white and black, to the
city stockade. Among them were
the fore-runnersof the great tide
that sweeps down toward the
south as soon as the first cool
weather approaches.
If Alderman Maddox’s system
is followed out, Atlanta will not
be a very salubrious or conven
ient stopping place for the hobo
tourists unless they are willing
to spend at least thirty days and
work for their board while here
