Harry Swords Gets
Verdict of $4,500
In the case of Harry Sword vs,
the A, B, & A. Railroad, a verdict
of $4,000 has been agreed to by
both paities to the suit, the case
coming up in the City court this
week.,
The suit arose over an accident
that happened almost two years
aro, when young Sword lost one
of his legs during some switching
at the A. B. & A. shop yards. The
fact that voung Sword was len
dered a satisfactory verdict will be
interesting news to his many
friends. Col, L. Kennedy and
Messrs McDonald and Grantham
were attorneys for Mr, Sword.

she is well known in social cir
cles. The wedding will be a bril
liant affair at half after eight on
the night of October the second
at the Methodist Church in Eas'-

Uncle Remus’ Home
Will Be Purchased
As Memorial Dec. 9
Atlanta, ' Ga. Sept. 19.—At the
first fall meeting of the Uncle
Remus Memorial association held
yesterday afternoot at the Carne

made that the purchase of the
Uncle Remus memorial home was
to be made on' December 9, which
is the anniversary of the birthday
of the famous writer.

At Union Station

Atlanta, Georgia, Septemoer 19
—Lulu Lewis, one of the best
known old negro women 1n At
lanta, for 25 years stewardess in
the Union station, is dead. Many
a feminine traveler whom Lulu
has helped get rid of the grime of
the railroad train and cheered with
her smile will mourn her death.
She died at 348 Park avenue,
South Atlanta, yesterday, She is
survived by three sons and one
daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Work re
turned this week from an extend
ed visit with relatives in different
parts of the north,
Mrs, ¥, N. Nardin, of Ocilla,
passed through the city Tuesday
en route from Arkansas, where
she spent the summer, to her
home.
