Report of First Meet
wg Of Womans
The first regular meeting of the
Woman's Club was held Oct,, 2nd,
in the Knights Templars’ Asylum.
Last spring the Sir Knights gen
erously voted the cJub the use of
their comfortable and beautiful
lodge room for this year, to be used
at the regular meetings of the club.
At this first meeting there seemed 1
to be a contageous spirit of keer
interest in the coming year's work,
and a firm determination to make
it the best in the history of the
club. No doubt the ladies derived
inspiration from the historic ma
sonic surroundings and felt some

o'clock and the club at larde at
3:30. Those answering to roll call
gave varied and interesting vaca-l
tion experiences. Some told of in-!

peaks of picturesque mountainsi
'scanning nature's wild beauty. and
other of profitable hours spent in
the foothills canning Nature’s fruits. ‘
Some told of tours by rail of the
North, East, and the West, and
some of tours by auto of our inter
(esting little city.

president, Mrs. E. A. Russell, to get
up the exhibit, the same exhibit to!
be sent later to the Tifton Fair.
The club unanimously voted to
secure Miss Bock for a musical
comedy to be given under her di
rection the latter part of the month
‘having been assured by her of a
ineat little sum to be added to the
treasury thereby. Mrs. Lon Dickey
'lchairman of the ledislative com
mittee, read the caption of several
| bills that came up at the last ses
“sion of the legislature. in which the
ladies were especially interested,
and reported that she had written
our representatives, asking their
report of same. .
Mrs. Holtzendorf was elected as
delegate and Mrs. Lon Dickey as
alternate to the State Federation.
After the conclusion of all busi
ness, Mrs. Seanor and Mrs. Meakin
representiug the social committee,
invited the ladies to Mr. Denmark’s
Drug Store, where delicious ice
cream and wafers were served.

Women Too Fickle

fickleness brought to an abrupt‘
termination the strke of the
nurses at the Atlanta hospitall
yesterday. They are all back at
work today- They found it utterly
imgossble to go twelve hours with
out changing their minds. On this
feminine characteristic the super
intendent of the institution made
his ealculations, and théy didn’t
go far wrong.
The fourteen young woman
struck prigeipally because the
hospital refused to let them have
ia telephene in their dormitory.
Like all young women, they had

dent said no other hospital dor
mitories had telephones and that
he would not put any in the At
lanta dormitory. The young wo
men walked out declaring they
would never enter the hospital
again unless the management
complied with their demands.
The superintendent thereupon
posted a notice, in which he re
ferred kindly to all the youn
ladies, and said he regretted thei
action, and announced that all o
them who desired to do so coul
come.to work, provided they cam
by noon Wednesday. At eleve
o’clock they swore they swor
they would never enter the build
ing again. At noon Weenesda
the whole flock marched smilinj
back to their work. .
