Forty-Five Minutes From
Broadway Will be
Seen in Fitzgerald
Will Play at Grand OQpera
Opera House Next Sat
urday, Nov. 2nd.
The splendid production was?
played in Spartanburg, S. C., the
11th of this month, and received
the following complimentary
lotice from the Spartanburg
Herald: sl g
“If a true test of a show’s mer
it is its perennial favor with thea
tre-goers, Cohan’s ‘‘Forty-five
Minutes from Broadway’’ has
well stood the test. Last night
at Harris’ theatre, the produc
tion with Bert Leigh as ‘‘Kid
‘Burns’’ and Miss Hazelle Burgess
as ‘‘Mary,” held alarge audience
ithorou..fhly absorbed the hours
of skillful acting.
~ The story is an old one. Tom
‘ Bennett comes into a fortune and
i 3 about to marry the girl of his
choice. His *‘pal’’ of former days,
Kid Burns, is asked by Tom to
share his good luck, and is made
‘ the millionaire’s private secretary
with a salary of $lO,OOO and
“‘nuttin’ to do but smoke cigar
ettes ’’ Mary is the house girl,
Kid Burns accidentally discovers
a will in which Mary is made
heiress to a fortune. Tom Bennett
is supposed to have inherited. The
Kid has fallen in love with Mary,
and now finds himself between
iScilla and Charybdis, since he
\must either wrong the girl he
loves or sacrifice his pal.
It is probably at this point that
Mr. Leigh is at his best. He por
wrays with a moving earnestness
he dilemma in which this honest
:on of the slums with a true sport
ing heart finds himself. A care
free, loyal follower of fortune,
with a mouth ever full and over
flowing the slangy philosophy of‘
‘he bowery, he resolves to *'baon
the level” and to do the right
thing. However, in deciding
what is the right thing, he almost
drives himself frantic.
A declaration of independence
made by the Kid to Tom’s inten
ded mother-in-law, precipitates a!
break between the ‘‘pals,’’ and
here again Mr. Leigh’s finest
character become evident. As
Tom departs, the Kid’s out
stretched hand expresses more of
humble longing and hurt than
volumes could have told. Mean
time, Mary has demonstrated
that she is a shrewd superior to
the many schemers who surround
the new millionaire. In her quiet,
whimsical way, she shows a
rreference for the Kid, which he
'is slow to see.
“In the end Tom’s intended
wife is compelled to flee with her
designing mother, who has be
come implicated in a burglary of
Tom’s home. The Kid is recon
ciled to Tom, and Mary is about
to leave them all. Mary, bag
gage in hand at the depot, is met
by the Kid and told of the will
making her heiress to a million.
She is also told of the Kid’s hope
less love. Whereup-n she tears
’up the will and the Kid at last
understands. The curtain goes
down on a kiss as Mary and the
Kid prepare to return home.
Pre-eminently the stars are
Mr. Leigh and Miss Burgess. Mr.
Leigh is already known to local
theatre-goers through his cleverl
rendition Of the title role in ‘“The
Man on the Box.”” Miss Burgessi
isa new-comer here; but she
easily established herself in local

attractive and with good voices.
Their singing of the old favorites,
*“‘Forty-five Minutes from Broad
way,”” “Mary is a Grand Old
Name” and ‘‘So Long, Mary,”’
were thoroughly enjoyable. Al
together the production is clean,
humorous and well worth while.”’ |

K-r-i-t cars have already conquered in many
sections. They have never yet failed in
profit to the dealer, and satisfaction to
the buyer. ¢
Increased production now enables us to
bring them to you.
Here, therefore, is the opportunity for dealer
and bt;fyer alike—a car of medium price
that offers such value and service that it
has made a clean sweep.
One of the explanations of K-r-i-t value is—
that all the essential parts are made within
the K-r-i-t organization ; the money 1s put
into the car itself and not in useless
equipment.
Dealers who know the K-r-i-t, know that the
best part of the K-rit profit lies in its
character—which makes it a successful
car next year as well as this year because
the K-r-it reputation rolls up the sales.
Moreover they know that K-ri-t service
means that the K-r-i-t Motor Car Company
stands back of every car—that a written
guarantee for a year goes with each car.
The dealer knows also that when he is offer
mfi the K-r-t he is offering his client a
full $9OO worth in power, speed, ease

| YIELDS READILY TO “BEARLAX”
Bearlax, unlike calomel and other
purgatives or laxatives, is not a mere
TEMPORARY stimulant to lives and
bowels. Bearlax produces immediate
action of the liver and other internal
organs, thus affording quick relief to
the constipated or bilious, and the
after effects of the splendid vegetable
remedies contained in Bearlax act as
a tonic to the weakened, or over
worked liver, bowels and stomach, and
restore to them the health and activity
that nature intended them to have.
Take the full_dese_at first, and then
in riding, room, comfort, and reliability—
more in fact, for that sum than he could
ever offer before. 5
Therefore, the Dealer who ties up with the
K-r-i-t will be scoring, like others before
him, the biggest business stroke of his
career. He will be tying to a car that
will sweep through his territory just as it
has triumphed elsewhere.
If you understand the technical side of an
automobile, bear in mind that the K-r-it
motor, clutch and transmission are a unit.
That means conservation of power, getting
as near as possible 100-per cent efficiency.
And speaking of power, don’t forget that
while the K-r-i-t is medium in price, it is
full powered, staunch and husky, equal
to any work. ’
K-rit models are finished in black and
nickel and with 56 or 60-inch tread as
desired. Their equipment is complete.
An electric lighting system including five
lamps, and 100-hour storage battery is
added to each car for $lO extra.
