The Big Tri-County Fair Opens
' Next Wednesday, Nov. 20th.
Will be a Record-Breaking Event for South Georgia
Citizens of the three counties, Ben Hill, Irwin
and Wilcox, Will Vie With Each Other in
Individual and County Exhibits--Com
petition Will Be Keen.
The opening day for the Ben Hill County Fair is now
very near, and the occasion bids fair to be a Gala Event.
The Counties of Ben Hill, Irwin and Wilcox are making every
preparation for this week which will be one of both pleasure
and profit, and it is expected that the city of Fitzgerald will
be the Mecca of pleasure seekers for miles around while the
Fair is going on.
The buildings and race course as weil 4s all other physi
cal preparations are now completed and ready for the open
ing day,
Che management has been busy, indeed, for the past
fortnight getting the different features for each day in their
proper place, and it 1s our opinion tnat they have succeeded
in preparing a program that will prove the most up-to-date
ever carried out at a South Georgia Fair, Everything will
be practical, interesting and instructive.
Everybody who owns articles suitable to be exhibited at
a Fair 1s urged not to stand back, but give the management
this much co-operaticn, as the greater the individual exhibit,
the greater will be our fair. Kvery product of the three
counties should be in evidence. Lay aside your best and ex
hibit it,
A Fair, properly organized and conducted, is an educative
agency of the first quality- It appeals directly to that great
body ©f the people that is actively engaged in furthering an in
dustry universally regarded as the foundation of all the other
inlustries to which men devote themselves. It brings the peo
ple iogether, once a year, from the country and the city, and
illustrates in a most impressive manner the possibilities of
agriculture in the Section from whence came the exhibits.
I'he operation of a Fair by two or three couaties, where soil
and climate conditions are the same is of much more practical
benefit than the larger fairs where so many of its exhibits are
produced under very different conditions.
Neighborhood comparison and competition, import inspir
ation and information that hits the spot, and arouses every
noble trait and ambition of a progressive character.
The Ben Hill Fair Association was not organized for specu
lative purposes but for a public benefit and recreation and it
is hoped and believed that the Association will have the hearty
co-operation and support of every citizen in this section.
It will be the policy of the Management to be very liberal
in its offer of premiums and while the size and scope of its list
this season compares very favorably with those of other fairs,
owing to the heavy construction expenditures, it is not what we
hope and expect it to be in the near future.
We have made the charges for Admission and space very
low—much lower than those of other fairs in this section and
we hope for, expect and solicit your liberal patronage and co
operation.
Following is the program that will be carried each day
of the Fair:
