City Court Closes
The last session of the City
Court, presided over by Judge
‘Wall and Solicitor A, J. McDonald
cime toa close Fiiday evening.
The entire criminal docket, which
had accumulated was practically
disposed of and the Officers retir
ing leave a clean sheet for the new
set, Judge Griffin and Solicitor
Horn. The retiring Juage, E. Wl
has made an exceptional good rec
ord on the bench, few of the cases
carried from his court to the Court
of Appeals have been reversed,
both in civil and criminal cases,
The many convictions had during
the several vyears of the incumb
ency of the solicitors office by Col.
MecDonald, are evidence of the
ability of this prosecuting attorney.
Cases disposed of on the last day
were Levy Miller convicted for
larceny of oats from H. M. War
ren and Ross Hardeway for the
same offence. Judge Wall sen
tenced the two to serve twelve
months on the roads of Ben Hill,
McGraw, who was tried for re
ceiving stolen property, & case
growing out of the same transac
tion, was found guilty and the
jury recommended him to the
mercy of the court. Judge Wall
fined him $3OO. Ed Swain another
of thgdefendents in the same case
jumped his bond,

Negro Kills Wife
\ In Family Row
‘As a result of a family row, Jim
Frazier. colored, shot and killed
his wife iast night as they were on
their way to cburch. The negroes,
from all reports, had been fussing
all the afternoon and their loud
talking could be heard as they
passed along the streets. When
they reached a point altout one
block from the Salem Baptist
Church, Frazier drew his pistol
and shot her one timein the chest.
T-:e woman ran until she was in
front of the church and then drop
ped dead,
Frazier was arrested this morn
ing and lodged in the county jail.

conference of the Methodist Kpis
c¢opalichurch, north, now 1n session
‘here, is on the verge of rebeliion.
‘Friction (has developed between
Bishop L. D, Loope, of New York
and his cabinet on oneside, aud
many of the laymen of the confer
ence on the other side. The local
congregation has already rebelled,
and it is thought that wher the
appointments are made out the en
tire conference may revolt.
The bishop is now in session
with his cabinet, composed largely
of colored eiders, Garland Bowen,
of Tennessee, is conferring with
‘him here.

0. S. District Attorney
Atlanta, Dec. 9.—The announce
ment from Washington that
Hooper Alexander, revresenta
tive from DeKalb county, would,
in all probability, succeed Carter
Tate as United States district
attorney, occasioned a surprise
in Atlanta. Mr. Alexander, while
a resident of DeKaib, has his
offices in this city and is a mem
ber of the local bar.
With the co-operation of every Minister and good per
son of this City, we hope to supply every person in desti
tute circumstai ces in this community.

We want every person in our city to send to us here
what articles they can spare, such as Food and Ralment,
Clothing, ete. These articles will be recorded in a book
for that purpose showing who sent them, and every per
son has free access to this book, so they can see where
these articles come from, and to whom they were sent to.
SECOND
Welwant every Minister and good person to bring us
in the names and correct street address of each and every
person that are really in needy circumstances, after which
all the articles seut to us will be properly prorated among
and to the names furnished us, with the kindly assistance
of the Ministers.
THIRD
We"agree to dray and deliver all the darcels such as
Food, Clothing and Moneys FREE to those destitute or
needy persons in this city and on the first dray load to be
sent out we agree to send some Flour, Rice, Sugar, Coffee,
Syrup,-Meat, Soap and Canned Goods. :

Republican Party
New York, Dec. 9.—The Ii«-
oublican Speakers’ League of the
United States, with Senator Elihu
Root and other prominent repub
licans at its head, will begin work
early in 1913 on an active propa
ganda for the rehabilitation of the
republican party and the election
of a republican president in 1916,
The league held its first meeting
here yeéterday. .
A committee of nine submitted
a constitution and officers were
elected to serve for four years.
The organization has a thousand
members and is composed of the
men and women who stumped for
the various republican national,
state and county committees dur
ing the recent campaign,
