Thanksgiving has just passed
and we all know that is the peo
ple’s day: the day that stands for
home and happiness, for grati
tude and benevolence, for plenty
and for peace.
X-mas is almost here and where
in all humanity is the greater
longing, dearer expectation
sweeter hope than in the heart of
a child on Christmas morn. Bat
in all the earth there is no look

Mr. J. K. Ashurst and Miss
Mittie Ball were united in the
holy bonds of matrimony Nov. 1.
Mr. Ashurst is one of our most
progressive farmers, a highly re
spected and cultured young man.
Miss Ball is one of Ashton’s most
popular and accomplished young

wedded life.
Another year is drawing toa
close another milestone of lifeis
in view and we shall, in all hu
man probability pass it and strug
gleon to the next. We are
all after happiness in one way or
another. Even the recluse, the
the martys of old were on fthe
endless search for happiness,
though the joy of heaven rather
than that of earth was the goal
fixed upon in the eyes of those
who sacrifice the present forthe
future. Eternal happiness was
what they desired. Unselfish
happiness is always waiting
vight round the corner if we will
only take our eyes off the far
distance and look nearer home.
The resolve to make next year a
happy year for those nearest us
will bring a good deal of real joy
and satisfaction to the maker of
the resolution, if he holas out
well.
