Griswold’s Improved Cotton Gins.
I rjIHE subsenltcr will continue the manufacture of
L Gins on his usual extensive scale, nnd embraces
i Ins opportunity to thank his numerous customers for
tlieir liberal patronage heretofore. The estimation in
which his (Jins are held, tuny be known from the fact
: of his having sold more than two thousand during the
last three years—probably ten to one over any other
! Factory in the State. This evidence of the superiority
of his Gins, is accounted for by his being the first to in
troduce the late improvements, and keeping the lead
by yearly adding new ones. His first and second im
provements made the quality of cotton perfect, though
some were rather slow. His third made them suffi
ciently fast. It then only remained to make them more
durable and convenient, which has been done he be
lieves effectually, by several new improvements the pre
sent year: besides, he has the exclusive right for the
Btate, with the privilege of other sections, to furnish
Reid’s Patent Water Boxes, which are believed to be
ten times more durable than any other, by those who
have made a fair trial of them ; and are infallibly se
cure against fire by friction. His tine Gins will gin
Mastodon Cotton as well as any Saw Gin can. His
agents will visit planters generally, and exhibit speci
mens of his late improvements, and point out tlieir ad
vantages in time for all to engage and be supplied le
---fore the next ginning season, or engagements can be
made by letter, directed to him, Clinton, Jones county,
Georgia. Gins will Ik* delivered at the purchaser’s res
idence, in any part of the Suite except the Cherokee
counties, where they will lie left at the Depot on the
Railroad most convenient to the purchaser. All war
ranted to perform well, if used according to the direc
tions sent with each.

SUPERIOR COTTON GINS.
rpHK sulscnber would inform the planters of Geor
.L gia. that he has removed his Cotton Gin Factory
to Bibb county, 34 miles from Macon,on the road lead
ing from Macon to Gordon, where he intends to tnnnu
faefure Cotton Gina <>i a quality superior to any ■
ever before made, if possible. In the construction of
his Gins, he will particularly guard against the possibil
ity of taking fire From the Gin And here he would re
mark, that it is impossible for a Gin to take fire from
the boxes without the grossest neglect on the part of
those who have the management o them. Gins that
get burnt, in nine hundred and tiinety-niife times out of
a thousand take fire from a different cause than the box
To this objection the Gins manufucturedh y the subscri
ber, are nut. and never have been liable, llis Gins
will be made of the best materials, and warranted to
perform as well ns any Gins made in the State. He has
an excellent water-power to turn his machinery, and
a good saw-mill right at hand, which will enable him
to sell Gins on as good terms as any other Factory in
the State. O. W. MASSEY.

r/£utual liifc Insurance Company,
58 Hull street, New Vork.
VFTER mature deliberation, the Trustees have
become convinced, and the experience of old es
tablished companies fully warrant the conclusion, that
the advantages of Life Insurance on the Mutual plan,
may be extende<l and diffused with greater convenience
ton large class of contributors, and wiffi equal curity
to all the assured, by requiring no great amount ot the
premium to be paid in cash than tne company will re
quire to meet its engagements with promptitude and
fidelity.
It has accordingly been determined that in all cases
where the annual premium shall amount to SSO, and 60
per cent, thereof shall have been paid in cash, an approv
'd note may be given for the remaining 40 percent.,
payable twelve months alter date, bearing six per cent,
interest. The interest to be paid annually, but the prin
cipal not to be called in unless the exigences ot the
company require it, giving sixty days notice, and then
only by assessments pro rata to the extent that may be
required to meet the engagements of the company.
It is confidently anticipated that a system, tin- opera
tion of which iH so lair and equitable, so well calculated
to place the benefits and blessings of Life Insurance
within tin* reach of all, and ot tne same time enable
each contributor to share equally ami fully not only in
its benificent security, but also in its profits of accumu
lation, will meet, as it is lielieved to deserve, the favor
and confidence of the public.
The particular advantages offered by this company
tire:
1. A guarantee capital.
2. An annual participation in the profits.
3. No individual responsibility beyond the amount of
premium.
4. Those who insure for a less period than life, par
ticipate equally in the annual profits of the company.
The Nautilus company confines its business exclu
sively to Insurance on Lives, and nil Insurance apper
taining to Life.

Farmers take Notice.
ITT E have the right of a number of Counties for
V? Gaylord's Patent Straw-Cutter. This ma
chine is the greatest of the day, and no humbug. It
cuts com, oats, hay, shucks, straw, or stalks with great
rapidity, and so easily that a lx>y of twelve years old can
work it. It can be attached to a gin wheel without any
extra expense, as the fly-wheel answers for a pulley.—
The great advantage of this machine over all others, is
in the shape of the blade—it being concave and convex,
parting the straw in the middle and cutting both ways,
which no other blade can do. So simple is this ma
chine, than any person that can grind an axe can put
the blade in order. Any black-smith can make the
blade. We shall keep one on hand for our friends to
examine before purchasing.
