I take great pleasure in bearing testimony to the verv

We, the subscribers, patrons of the Latirange Col
legiate Seminary for Young Ladies, under the charge
ot Milton E. Bacon, beg leave to make, to the public,
some exp'.ssion of our opinion, in regard to the merits
of this important Institution. We feel no hesiiation in
saying that we regard it as one ot the best Female
Seminaries in our country, and worthy ot the confidence
and iiberal patronage of an intelligent public. We re
gard the Principal as eminently qualified for his respon
sible position, and he seems to have spared no pains in
procuring the services of able Assistants in the various
departments ol the Institution It gives us much plea
sere to fie able m this public manner, to express our
nigh gratification at improvement winch our daugh
ters have made whilst connected with the Seminary,
and having witnessed in them the excellent Iruits ol
the moral and intellectual training through which they
have b en conducted, we can with greater confidence
commend the Institution to the favorable notice of our
particular triends, and to all otheis who may have
daughters to educate. The examination of thevarious
classes, now in piogress,so far as we have been able to
give it our attention, has been ol a highly satisfactory,
character, being conducted with great tairness and im
partiality. and evincing ai once the ability anu laithlul
nessofthe teachers, and the diligence of the pupils.
The performances of the Young Ladies in Vocal
and Instrumental Music were tiuly admirable, and at
fuded abundant evidcnc*- that Professor Chase, the
Principal in ibis Department, 13 eminently qualified loi
the position which he occupies. We are pleased to
learu that Mr. Bacon’s Seminary lias a growing reputa
tion, and a constantly increasing patronage. During
the present year he has had a mrger number ot pupils
than at any former period. We trust that luture years
will mark the same advancem* tit in the interest ol toe
LaGrange Collegiate Seminary, and that its disuin
guished Principal will never fail to receive trom a dis
cerning and generous public that encouragement and
support which are due to his great efforts and uncoth
ruon sacrifirts in the cause of Female Education.
