nose, weighs about 170 lbs, and has a fine gait. One
had a deep blue blanket coat, the other a grey overcoat.
These negroes came from the upper part of Bouth Car
olina, (York District,) and were sold to me by a pro
fessed trader calling himself R. Lee. I have reason to
believe that they have been stolen by some white man,
or furnished with passes. It runaway, they will pro
bably try to get back by way of Washington, Wilkes
county, to Carolina.
I w ill pay the above reward for their apprehension
and lodgment in any safe jail, so that I can get them;
and Fifty dollars extra for proof to convict any white
man of taking them off. Lae was a tall young man,
with cadaverous countenance, aud moustaches—about
27 years of age, with dark hair, light gray eyes, thin
beard, and blue blanket coat.
I have reason to believe that a gang of Af’/rrtl Men
are now engaged in selling negroes through thecountrv
at low prices, and then stealing them oil’to be sold again.
These Boys, I think, wete taken off by some member of
that gang. People would do well to examine all itine
