Is certainty that which will produce a natural state of things
at the least hasard of vital strength and life ; for this end
Dr Hosteller has introduced to this country a preparation
hearing his name, which at this day is no! anew medicine,
but one that has been tried for years, giving satisfaction to
all who have used it. The P.itters o(>erate powerfully upon
the .tomach, bowels and liver, restoring them to a health}
anil vigorous action, and thus by the simple process of
strengthening nature, enable the system to triumph over
disease.
y„r the cure of Dyspepsia, Indigestion. Nausea, klatuten
cy, Loss of Appetite, ( ,r any Bilious Complaints, arising
tro.n a morbid inaction of the Stomach or Bowels, producing
Cramps, Dysentery, Cholic, Cholera Morbus, Ac., these Bit
ters have no equal.
Diarrhoea. Dysentery or flax, so generally contracted b\
new settlers.arid caused principally hy the change of watei
and diet, will be speedily regulated by a brief use of this pre
paration. Dyspepsia, a di-ease which is probably more
prevalent, when taken in all its various forms, tlmn any
other, the cause of which may always be attributed to de
rangements of the digestive organs, can tie cured w ithout
fail by using lIOSTETTKR’f* STOMACH BITTERS, as pei
directions on the bottle. For this disease every phys ciai.
will recommend Bitters of some kind, then why not use an
article known to he infallible? Every country h*ve their
Hitters as a preventative of disease and strengthening o’ the
system in general, and among them all there is rot to be
found a more healthy people than the Germans, from whom
this preparation emenated, based upon scientific experi
ments which has attended to advance the destiny of this
great preparation in the medical scale of science.
Kkvkk and Acre —'This trying and provoking disease,
which fixes its relentness grasp on the body of man, reduc
ing him to a mere shadow in a short space of time, and ren
dering him physically and mentally useless, can he defeated
and driven from the body by the use of HOSTK.TTaII’s RE
NOWNED BITTERS. Further, any of the above stated dis
eases; cannot be contracted when exposed to any ordinary
conditions producing them. If the Bitters are used as per
directions. And as it neither creates nausea nor offends
the palate, and rendering unnecessary any change of diet
or interruption to usual pursu ts, but promotes sound sleep
and healthy digestion, the complaint is thus removed as
speedily as is consistent w ith th* production of a thorough
and permanent cure.
For Persons in Advanced Years, who are suffering from
an enfeeblod constitution and infirm body, these Bitters are
invaluable as a restorative of strength and vigor, and need
only to be tried to he appreciated. And to a mother while
nursiax, these ffcbters are indispensable, especially where
the mother's nourishment is inadequate, to the demands of
the child, consequently her strength must yield, and heie il
is where a good tonic, such as Hostetter* Stomach Bitter*,
is needed to impart temporary strength and vtghr to the
system Ladles should hy all means try this remedy for all
cases of debility, and before so doing, ask your physician,
who, if lie is acquainted with the virtue of the Bitters, will
recommend their use in all eases of weakness.
t'Rti I >un. —“'e caution the public against using any of
the many imitations or counterfeits, but ask for Hosthitir’s

t’ e words “Dr. J. ll,istetter’s Stomach llitters”b'own on the
side of the bottle, and stamped on the metallic cap covering
the coik.

The Dries’ Patent Piano Forte.
I ATI now ready to answer the oft repeated question,
“ Who inaktw the best Pianos ?” I answer unqualifiedly,
BRIGGS, I’AKMALEE A CO., of New York. I have been
tuning Pi tuos ax years, and claim to understand the fnstrw.
inenl thoroughly. I hive been Nortli expressly to ascertain
who mikes the best Pianos. 1 have seen every part of the
D.’i-'gi Piano, aud several other celebrated ones, In process
of being made. The Driggs Piano far excels ..11 others, in
two very important particulars, vlx : volnn. and sweetness
of tone, and capacity for staying in tune. The tone is pro
duced as much as possible like the Violin, there hgUje i*u
sounding-boards con vex outwards. Th*“bcavy , thick plasks,
blocks aud braces are done hw#y with, so a chamber is
formed for souqt]. The power and sweetness of toDe ie equal
to that of the best Grand Piano.
The cauaoitv for stayli g in tune depends on a newly In
vented Iron Frui%, or bed-plate, which sustains alt the
strain, and is entirely free from the vibratory part of the
Instrument. There is a great improvement in the manner
of pitting on the Strings, they not being liable to rust or to
jar at their b -arings.xn I in the arrangement of the datpperf.
The flange*, hammers, back catches, and every part of the
actiou is made in a manner tliat oaint he excelled. The
following is from Thallwng ;
“ Mr S. B. Driggs—l have examined your new Piano
Forte, and cordially approve of its sy stem of construction ;
its principles by which great increase of vibratory power is
obtained, being very simple and perfectly philosophical.—
The tone is grand and noble. It hits great capacity for >us
taiuing the sound or singing, aud its volume of tone, or
power, 1 have never heard excelled in depth, punty, ami
sympathetic sweetness. 8. THALBERG.”
Similar certificates have been received from Ootschalk,
Strakoseh, Mason and many other eminent artists.
Jar* These instruments may be seen at Messrs. Virgins.
We are now prepared to fill orders not only with these pian

Scrofula, or King’s Ev’ll,
IS a constitutional disease, a corruption of the Idood, by
w hich his liuid becomes vitiate 1, weak, and poor. Be
ing in the circulation, it pervades the whole body, aud may
burst out in disease on any part of it. No organ is free from
its attack*, nor is there one which it may not destroy. The
scrofulous taint is variously caused by mcrcuilal disease,
low living, disordered or unhealthy food, impure air, filth
and filthy habits, the depressing vices, and, above all, by
the venereal infection. Whatever be its origin, it is heredi
tary In the constitution, descending “ from parents to child
ren unto the third and fourth generation;” indeed, it seems
to be the rod of Him who says, “ I will visit the iniquities of
the fathers upon their children.”
Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of cor.
rupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and in.
ternal organs, is termed tubercles ; in the glands, swellings ;
and an the surfare. eruptions or sores. This foul corrup
tion, which genders the blood, depresses the energies of life,
so that scrofulous constitutions not only suffer from scrofu
lous comp’aiuts, but they have far lees power to w ithstand
the attacks of other diseases ; consequently, vast numbers
perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous In their
nature, are still rendered fatal by this taint in the system.
Most of the consumption which decimates the human family
hss its origin^indirectlv injthis scrofulous contamination;
ard many destructive di-eases of the liver, kidneys, brain,
and, indeed, of all the organs, arise from or are aggravated
by the same cause.
One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their persons
are invaded bv this lurking infection, and their health is
undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we must
renovate the lilood by hb alterative me Heine, and invigo
rate it hy healthy food and exereise. Such a medicipp wg
