ELECT! OHS.
An election for Governor and member of Con
gress took place in Florida on Monday and for Gov
ernor in Pennsylvania on Tuesday last. Some hope
ia entertained that the latter State La9 gone again*t
the black Republicans.
A fusion ticket haa been announced in Xew York,
but we have bat little hope of its success.
Who OrrosE CoonnTios.—lo a upeech made
by D. S. Dickinson, published in the Republican
papers, we find the following advice :
“ Douglas and Hunt's Homogeneous Fusion * l ’
the State of New York will not come within fif 1 )
thousand votes of Lincoln. And I advise ra>
friends, if there are any who are dissatisfied with th e
view ot Slavery laid down in the platform of the
National Democrat-, to pack their duds aud leav*
tor the Republican Camp without delaying one
moment in he fusion half-way houe. The gult
between the National Democrats and Douglas met
is as wide as was that between the rich man and
Lazarus.”
The Rochester Press , a paper just established
ill the interest of Mr. Dickinson, deuies that Green’s
Committee have any authority to to make or ac
cept propositions of union, and says that the only
response to be made to the Douglas Democrats
who ask for co-operation, is to “ spit on the propo
ser.” It adds:
While the question is pending, the committee
that assume to repreaeut the National Democracy
of this State stand before the public in the attitude
of a woman proposing to barter her virtue for a
certain consideration, and equally liable to public
scorn whether the proposition be accepted or re
jected. On behalf of the masses of the National
Democracy of the State, we disclaim any share in 1
this prostitution, and deny the authority of the !
committee to sell anybody or bring contempt upon
anybody but themselves.
Col, Crosier on Lincoln** Kleetlou.
Col. Crozier, of Knoxville, Tenn.. uses the fol
lowing language in a speech lately delivered on the
election of Lincoln to the Presidency : “It has
been asked, what would Breckinridge raeu do in
case of the election of Lincoln ? He did not know
what others might advise or propose to do in such
a contingency—/or A tout ff he merer would submit
—merer—never — never. From the hour in rhirk
Lincoln woe inaugerated, ke was proud to be a re
bel—he would mount tke tcu/Told in such a cause.
He would consider Lincoln a perjured traitor when
he took the oath to support the < ‘onstitution. It
had been said that the South would wait for some
over act of aggression. He would pursue no suck
policy. Tyranny advanced with slow and cantious
approaches. He would not wait uutll bound hand
and foot. lie would meet it on the threshold.—
Tke milder Hr. Lincoln might make hi* govern
ment, the hotter should be the war he would malt \
upon it.”
Spring and Autumn.
The year is divided into four seasons—Spring,
Summer, Autumn, and Winter—each having charms
peculiar to itself. This pleasing variety of seasons
is occasioned by the annual revolution of the earth
around the sun, together with the inclination of
her axis to the plane of her orbit.
When winter retires before the direct rays of
the Great Luminary, virgin Spring comes forth,
clothed in beauty, with her thousand flowers that
lade every breeze with fragrance, that sport over
hill top and glen, rejoicing amid the splendors of
the new-born year. Nature seems renewed, the
ear is charmed with the gentle uiurtuur of the
streams, while the feathered songsters pour forth
their “ unpremeditated lays” from towering cedar
twig and bush, and the woods and fields resound
with soul-stirring melodies that the genius of a
Han dal or Mozabt could never equal.
Poets have recorded, in harmonious numbers,
the allurements of Spring, and philosopliers have,
with rigid logic, endeavored to prove that she is
superior, in excellence and beauty, to the other
members of her family ; but in that they have ut
terly failed.
She is iudeed beautiful, and possessed of rare at
tractions ; but she must yield the palm to Golden
Autumn, whose beauties exceed those of her rival
sister. Who can describe, with pen or pencil, the
enrapturing beauties of Autmnr. ? This season
presents many of the curiosities of Spring, with the
addition of others that are never seen at that time
of the year. In the place of blossoms, we have
the ripened fruit, the well-filled grauary the yellow
corn, the rosy apple, the delicious peach, the gar
den vegetables richest flowers, and bright diays,
with their soft, mellow light, together with •* bird >
music” among the many-colored leaves of the for
ests and fields.
The leaves of the American forests, during
autumn, reflect the greatest variety of colors of
any in the world. The rainbow is beautiful, but m
that we see only the seven primary colors, while
the autumn forest reflects a variety of brilliant col- 1
ora, with intervening hues, soft tints, and delicate
shadings, which can ouly be numbered by consid
ering them infinite; and the minghug of these
many colors gives increased beauty and attractive- i
ness to the autumnal landscape.

I We call the attention Os our readers to an article
adveriised in auother column, called j uki. Foot*. It Is an
entirely new discovery .and must not he confounded with any
of the numerous patent medicines of the day. It ksfoodfitr
Ik.- Ur nut, already prepared for absorption ; pleasant to the
taste and natural in action, and what one gains he retains.
Let all those, then, who are suffering from poverty, impuri
ty. or deficiency of Mood, and consequently with some
et.ronic disease or ailment, take of this Blood Food and be
restored to health. We notice that our druggists have re
ceived a supply of this article, and also of the world-re
n >wued I>r. Baton’s Infantile Cordial, which every mother
si ould have. It is said to contain no paregoric or opiate
• * n f kind whatever, and of course must be invaluable for
ail infantile complaints. It Is also said that it will allay all
p in, and soften the gums in process of teething, and at the
Some time regulate the bowels. Let all mothers and nurses
who have endured anxious days and sleepless nights, pro
cure a supply and be at once relieved.

A Goop Mediciyx.—McLean's Strengenthing Cordial and
Blood Purifier is one of the most useful and pleasant beve
rages of the day. It is mild and agreeable to the taste,
bracing the nerves, giving a healthy tone to the stomach,
and imparting a glorious appetite. A wine glass full of this
Cordial taken three times a day, will be better than a family
physician, as no other medicine will be required. For ladies
it Is particularly recommended, as it strengthens the ribs
of the “weaker vessels” in an astonishing degree. See the

stricken down in a short space of time by this dreadful curse,
whose cheeks are aan and meagre, and whose nights are

with de .th staring them in the face, this compound most

of the grave. None can know its true value until they hare
