i Wc see l>y the Atlanta papers that
/this gentleman has taken np his resi

lihuggist, he has had much experience,
‘and in both branches has few superiors

Lor in 1854, during the prevalence of
the Yellow Fever, will long be remem
bered, and by bis removal, the Samari- j

ful members. We wish him success in
bis new location.
The Weather.
Wc ha<l last night and this morning
a real old fashioned Boaking ruin, which
will, no doubt, be of material benefit
, to the growing crops, if it extended any
distance in the country. It has had a
decidedly favorable effect on the atmos
phere, the thermometer, at 10 o’clock
this forenoon marking only 68 1-2 deg.
Southern Cultivator.
The September number is on our table, j
filled with its usual variety o? useful in- I
formation to farmers, planters and bor-!
liculturcsts. It is published monthly j
in this city by \V. S. Jones, at $1 per
annum, and every Southern planter*
should patronize it.
Committed.

] J or VA years of age, was examined
last night before Justices Olin and Siie

Cotton Prospects.
For some weeks pa-t the hope has
been indulged that the present year’s:
cotton crop, notwithstanding the over
flow of the Mississippi, would be at
least an average one. Within tiie last:
week or two, however, accounts of a 1
most unfavorable nature have reached ’
us from many sections. Much damage
is being done to the crops by the rust
and worms, and as August and Septem
ber are regarded as the most critical j
period of the cotton season, and as the ;
damage has begun so early in August, j
and as the disasters of cotton seem to!
increase as the country grows older, we j
fear that all calculations of a good crop
will be disappointed. Some few will
doubtless make good crops -for that is |
always the case-but speaking general
ly, things begin to look badly for a
good crop. The planters may as well
begin to make their calculations to
make up in price what they lack in j
I’ijantity. —Memphis Bulletin, -I f inst.

death. The difficulty, we learn, origi

gentleman, who being a cripple, War
den remonstrated with Reynolds, which
provoked harsh words resulting in
blows, and -the cutting as above stated.
Reynolds was arrested, and brought be
