A PROCLAMATION.
T 1 /TIERE AS his Excellency
VV James Jackson, late
Governor and Commander in
Chief, hath this day accepted
the appointment of Senator
from this State, in the CongrcTs
of the United States, agreeably
to his election thereto on the
18th day of November, in the
year eighteen hundred by the
iegi future, and hath fignilied to
me his resignation of the govern
ment.
And whereas, the fourth
fed ion of the fecond article of
the conduction declares — Cf in
cafe of the death or refignadon
or clifability of the Governor,
the Prefxdent of the Senate fhall
exercife the executive powers
of government, until fuch all
ability be removed, or until the
next meeting of the General
Afiethbly. 5 ’ By virtue of which
the duties of the Executive have
devolved on me.
I have therefore thought fit
to iffue this my proclamation,
hereby notifying all officers,
civil and military, that I have

thereof—of which all perfons
are required to take due notice,

at their peril
