the public generally, that lie has purchased M. D.
Huson’s Hotel,.which he at present keeps as the
HXeLH ilOTKI-.
The House has uitdergonea thorough repair, besides
a large two story building, which adds very much to the
appearance and comfort of the house^-the dining room is
large and airy. He will be able to accommodate from
fifty to sixty Members of the Legislature, besides all
transient iiersons who may iavor him with their compa
ny.
Tie hopes from his long experience in business, and the
assistance of Mr. and Mrs. Maxgiiam, that he will be
able to keep a House not to be surpassed by any in the
the Southern Country. Mrs. Mangham has been living
in my family and Mrs. Huson’s for seven or eight j’ears,
whim gives her a full knowledge of house keeping.

The right to either of the above lots maybe reinvested
in the holder of the certificate issued by the late commis
sioners by settling with the Bank, before the iwenty-fifiii
day of September next, or the officer authorised to sell the
same, at any time before the resale, the whole amount of
the original purchase money remaining unpaid, with ali
interest due thereon.
The purchaser of any lot will be required to pay one
fifth of the purchase money on the ctay cl sale, ana the
remainder in four equal annual instalments; and any

begs leave to announce to his friends and the public gen
erally, that he lias taken that elegant and commodious
lire proof Brick Building on the corner of Broad and Jack-
son streets, and immediately adjoining the new Masonic
Hall. It is situated in the most central part of the City,
and is in the very heart of business—being in the vicini
ty of the Augusta Bank, and the Branch Bank of tlie State
of Georgia.
This establishment is known as the Globe Hotel,
and in the interior arrangement and general construction,
unites in an eminent degree, spaciousness, neatness, and
comfort. To the man of family, the individual traveller,
the daily boarder, or the fashionable visitor, the Globe
presents accommodations, inferior to none in the .South
ern States.
Having conducted for a number of years, two among
the most popular Hotels in this city, he flatters himsell
that his experience in business, added to the superior ad
vantages of situation and the resources under his controul,
will enable him to give the most deeidtd satisfaction to all
who may honor him with their patronage.
His Stables-are spacious raid well ventilated, and
amply supplied with the best of provender, and attend
ed by experienced and steady Ostlers—in addition to
which, the subscriber will bestow Lis own personal unre
mitting attention, and in his charges, will not forget the
pressure of the times.
AS HOLDER, who were confined in the Jail of said
county, the first named on a charge for horse-stealing, and
ihe other for passing counterfeit money, cud, on the night
of the 16th instant, make their escape from said jail—I
have therefore thought proper to issue this my proclama
tion, offering a reward of TWO HUNDRED DOL
LARS to any person or persons who shall apprehenu
and deliver to the Sheriff of the said county of Columbia,
the aforesaid Harvey Olmslead and Thomas Holder, or
ONE HUNDRED DOLLA118 for the delivery of ci
ther of them to said Sheriff.—And 1 do hereby charge
and require all officers, civil and military, of this State,
to aid and assist in the apprehending and securing the
aforesaid persons, that they may be brought to trial for
the crimes with which they are charged.
Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the
State, at the State-House in Milledgeville, this
22d day of August in tlie year of our Lqpd, eigh

respects, not only to merchants, banking institutions,
brokers, and keepers of hotels, but to the community in
generaL Wc have engaged the literary assistance of se-
veral gentlemen well known as writers, and have corres
pondents in all the principal cities and towns in the Uni
ted States. We also receive weekly more than five hun
dred newspapers from different parts of the Union, >o
that whatever information may be circulated through tlie
medium of the “Reporter,” and the resourcesfrom whence
it is derived, we can confidently state, may, in all cases,
be relied upon as correct. Bank notes are being counter
feited in every direction; and on the arrival of every ves
sel from Europe, or the creation of every national excite
ment, the state of the market varies. Every person
should, therefore, be possessed of some certain guide by
which all such information might be received by the ear
liest mails, and at such a rate as not to render its posses
sion an exorbitant tax. Such a Journal is exactly w hat
we endeavor to render the “Reporter,” in an effort to ac
complish which, neither pains nor expense will at any
time* be spared on the part of the publisher. Every num
ber will contain a carefully corrected Bank Note List,
Eist of Broken Banks, Prices Current, Prices of Geld,
Prices of Bank and Insurance Stock, and a description of
all Counterfeit and Altered Notes in circulation through,
out the United States, and all such information as is
likely to throw light upon the subjects embraced in the
design of this Journal. The latest foreign news, togeth
er with much original and well selected matter, will al
so be found, in the columns of tlie “Reporter.”
The terms of the weekly publication are $3 per an

tue, and obituary notices of Youth and Cnudren, remar

The proprietor designs to interdict fiction and super
stition in ali its pages, and to employ his best efforts to
render it an instructive and interesting family visiter.—

is one that deserves the vigilant and rigid enforcement of

DOLLARS for the apprehension and delivery of said
