2. she wetli. that one Jesse Cox, late of said county, de
ceased, in Ins life time, to wit: on t lie fir-t day of November,
in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-two, made and deliv
ered to one Uriah Meeties his certain IhjiuI conditioned to
make good and warrantee tides to two hundred two and a
hall acres ol" land therein described, (a copy of which is
hereunto allachedJ and which lias been assigned by him to
your petitioner; and your petitioner further states, that the
said Jesse Cox departed tins life without making any provi
sion by will lor executing said tides, and that John W. Gor
don has been appointed, by the proper autliority, sole execu
tor on his estate; arid your petitioner avers, that the oon-
siderinioii agreed to be given for said trad of land has been
paid;
Wherefore yoitr petitioner prays that the said John W.
Gordon, executor as aforesaid, may be directed by your
1 honors to make titles to said tract of land, according to the

Know all men by these presents, that 1, Jesse Cox, of the
courtly of Jones, is firmly Ir-id and bound, tiliio Uriah
Meeks, hi- ueirs will assigns, imlie full sum of five hundred
dollars, the true payment of .which I bind myself, my heirs
or assigns onto the said Sleeks.
Tli,* condition of the above obligation is such, that, where
as tin* said Cox lias, this day, bargained and sold unto the
se.id .Meeks a certain tract or parcel of laud containing two
hundred two and a half acres, number one hundred and
thirty-six. in the sixth district formerly Baldwin but now
.Kues county, forth*) sum of two hundred and fitly dollars.
Now, should the stud .Meeks well and truly pay to the said
Cox the abovesum of iwo hundred and fitly dollars, say one
hundred and twenty-live dollars due twelve months after
note, and one hundred and twenty-five dollars due twelve
months thereafter, then tin said Cox shall make the said
Meeksagood and lawful title to the said tractor pare, 1 of
laud; but should tin said Cox refuse to comply, on his part,
be shall forfeit the above sum of five hundred dollars to tho
said Meeks. The -ani .Meeks agrees, on his part, not to
make use of any of the t.tuber, on said laud, except tor the
use of the plantation, or to dispose of an/ of said limber in
any wav, until said obligation is complied with. If thesaid
Cox complies with the said contract then ibis bond to be
null and void, else to remain in fall force and virtue.

try to Florida. lr will also have a Male road passing
through it from Columbus to M. Marv’s, besides the numer
ous thoroughfares that will be made from this ferry to com-
tuutiicate with different parts of the cowntry.
The counties of-Lee, Sumter and Baker are on Flint
River, and abound m the most fertile lands that are best u-
uupifd to the culture of foiton and corn, 'f lu lace ot tite
country is I vel, t!u rich lands lying on or in the vicinity
«.f water r nurses which are abundant and never lnding;
the limber is nlternaivly oak, hickory arid pine, while the
first is always upon strong laud—much of the.pinc land al
so, w ill rate with tiu Usit in Georgia; in regard to tiu river,
as far as my knowledge of it extends, il is not surpassed for
the purpose of navigation by scarce any in lie* State with a
small expenditure to remove soma temporary obstacles,
which through the wisdom of oar Legislature, inns*, soon be
effected.
The contemplated Run Road, for which Thomas Spal
ding 1> |. has a charier, communicating with Flint and
Ockmulgi-e rivers, will greatly benefit this section of coun
try.' It will perlect un inland <• •mmumratiou from the At
lantic cities, to iiiiMse of the Gulf v,f Mexico; a work milch
needed, noth from its commercial advantages and that of
government. ThiJ Bail Road has it* termination on Flint
Rtvar, at the point before alluded to lor a town sit". 1 have
entered into hnu<fa with Mr. Spalding, to that effect, that
the town will be laid out during the present season, and tlie
lots ofih.-ed ldr sale as announced in advertisement.
From close observation, l discover, that those who arc
temperate in their habits, enjoy as full a share of lipalth, ns
m any other pari of the country in the same latitude. The
society i» gradually improving, and 1 think that such induce

* j HERE was a letter mailed at Greencville, Memw< ther
! county, Ga. on the 1st of May. enclosing two hundred
dollars in hills on different banks, and two netes of hand,
ami an instrument of writing, and directed to myself: which
letter came to hand with the notes and the instrument of
writing; hut the letter had heen broken open ntu) th- mon
ey taken out, and again forwarded tin; and it must have been
done in some postoffice, or by some one having access to
the mail. I am informed by the postmaster at Greeneville,
that thi fetter was forwarded by the mail to Ellerslie, Har
ris county; from thence it must have taken the route to
Macon and Miliedgevilie, as it came to this office in tlie di
rect mail from Miliedgevilie. The following is a copy of
tlie list of notes and tiieir numbers, as taken down hy the
Postmaster at Greenville; and it would he well for the pub
lic that they should keep a good look oat for them; for, if
the robber is in or about any postoffice, lie ought to he
round out; and, from all the circumstances, he must be; for
the letter came reguinrly mailed and in due form:

R ELATIVE to a young man named OKG1LE KING,
who left Charleston in january last, and is supposed
to he eiihe.r in the State of Georgia or Alabama; and we
wish this notice to reach the said O. G. King on aceount of
his only brother, who haft tlie management of the estate of
thesaid O. G. King, being dead, and the deeeased Mitchell
C. King having, hy his last will and testament, bequeathed
all Ins estate to the said O G. King his brother, if alive,
and a request that tlie aforesaid O (4. King do take posses
sion of the same, he not yet being quite twenty-one years of-
age; the said Mitchell C. King departed this life July the
9th, after a short blit severe attack of the Scarlet Fever, in
which all medical aid failed. The deceased was a highly
respected man, of thirty-five years of age, who left no con
nection whatever, except one brother, O G. King, to whom
he left in part one hundred und seventeen Negro-Slaves; and
Itand and Dry Goods, Stock, &o. together with ninety-
th ret* Negro-Slaves and the proceeds of the same for six
teen years, which is the propprtv of the said O G. King.—
The said O. G King is a young man of gotid character, and
can do any kind of business in Merchandising and is a firat-
rau Salesman; and, like most young nun. inclined to be
rattling and wild, although of soher habits.
