FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY AGUES
Ts&JXD FOR SAI-E,
O N Walnut Creek, eighty of which are cleared. Most
of the land is not inferior to the h^t of tho Henry
uplands, well watered, and comparative!)* level. There
is a fine two-story building, large and commodious, on
the premises,—and other out houses, in good repair. The
site for the dwelling is a beautiful one, and i >r health the
neighborhood is not surpassed hy any in the up country.
Any person, wishing to purchase the above described pro
perly, on accommodating terms, should apply to the sub
scriber, living on the place, near the road leading from M‘-
Donough to Fayetteville, and two miles from tho former
village, or to John Daii.hy Jun. living in 31‘Donongh.—
Jlrnrv county, Georgia, July -, 1336.

PLEASANT IIILL FOR SALE.
T HE subscriber offers for sale, the premises whereon
he now lives, on Murder Creek, Jasper eountv, eight
miles north of Montieelio, on the road leading to Madison,
Mor gan county, containing seven hnndretl acres; three
hundred and fifty of which arc in a stata of cultivation,
and promises a reward worthy the attention of the farmer.
The production of the lands on Murder Creek, by those
acquainted, are known to bo equal, if not superior, to any
in tit s fertile country. The improvements are good, and
xvtII constructed for the convenience and accommodation
of a largo family.
Attached to the premises are two Giist Mills; one appro
priated to the grinding of wheat, and thr* other corn; both
under one roof. Also, a Saw Mill that cuts one hundred
and !wentv-five feer per hour. From the location of th^e
Mills, much interest is secured; there being a point of rock
■ixty feel above, which defends them from the heavy and
swift current at all times. It is unnecessary to spunk of
their value, as those wishing to purchase such property aro
solicited to examine for themselves, or hy an agent.
At the south end of the dam is erected a new two-story
Gin-house, supplied with a new gin of seventy-five saws,
propelled hy water. The need-cotton is deposited on the
first floor, and conveyed to the gin on the second floor,
through a box, which enables one hand to attend said gin
when ginning, with one-third of the labor when on the
fi*rru»r plan. Near at hand stands a Screw for packing
cotton; this screw was cut at the factory of Mr. YYiison, in
Morgan comity. The performance of these screws are
greatly admired for their great pressure, and quick opera
lion; having square threads which are preferable to the
V. thread. On the north aide of the creek, near the mill*,
stands a large and convenient Store-house; rh•» first story
prepared with counters and shelves for merchandising, or
storage; underneath is a good brick cellar—two brick
chimneys and two firo places in each. The second story i9
adapted for clerks or an agent. It is a good stand for the
purchasing of cotton or merchandise. Convenient is one of
the best springs in this section, known for its purity for
hundreds of miles ntrth and south of these mills.
Tho dwelling stands on a beautiful eminence on the south
side of tho creek, half a mile from the mills, and there is a
well of excellent water in the yard. The place has for
several years proven quite healthy, with a few exceptions,
from which no section is exempt
Convenient to this residence is located Constirniien Hal
Academy, now in operation with a full school.
The stork of hogs and cattle, with the crop of corn,
fodder, oats, farming implements, and a set of smith's tools,
can be purchased with the farm, if desired.
N. B. The erection of a cloth factory, adjoining the mills,
would ensure a source of income, as there is a convenient
spot and a sufficiency of water.
83“AH persons wishing to examine the premises rtn apply
to the subscriber therein, or to M. Whitfield, enquire, at
Shady Dale. LAWSON S. HOLLAND.

The Federal Union will please insert the vbere one* r.rerr four

INTERNAL IMPROVEMErtT.
I F this is not the “ago of wonders’* it is at least the era
of enterprize and improvement. The NEW Y'OR K
CANAL, connecting the Hudson with the great western
Lakes, has only been completed ten years or little more,
when the grow ing resources of that productive region ren
tiers necessary an enlargement of the water communica
tion sufficient for Steamboats, and Railroads are already
being executed along the greater part of the line. That
work which was considered extravagant nnd visionary
when projected by Clinton, is found insufficient for the coun
try, before its gratitude has erected to his memory a suita
ble monument, as a memorial of his genius and public ser-
viocs.
We see now an Ohio Canal, from that noble river to
Lake Erie, and communications proposed from Lake Mi
chigan to the majestic Mississippi. We have now before
its reports of conventions of States for a Railroad from the
Ohio lo the Atlantic, commencing at Cincinnati, anil end
ing at Charleston. Surveys are being made for a Railroad
from Nashville to New Orleans. There seems to be no
project too stupendous in its character, or magnificent in
extent, fi>r the genius, resources and enterprize of the coun
try. The history of no country in the world will furnish
such an example of improvement and prosperity.
We have recently been made acquainted with a work, fir
which without noise, puffing, or flourish of trump* la. tin*
capital has been subscribed in Boston, and which will as
suredly anti certainly he executed, that lor magnitude of ob
ject and public utility, is nut surpassed, perhaps not equalled,
by any one of the great improvements before mentioned.—
The work to which we allude, is the construction r.f a
RAILROAD from BRUNSWICK HARBOUR,
on the coast of Georgia, to the Apalachicola River or Bay,
in Florida. Brunswick is ascertained by a recent survey of
Col. Baldwin, (who is admitted to be one of th" first engi
neers in the United States) to be the best harbour on our
Southern Atlantic sea coast, and is perhaps tit** healthiest
plae^ in the Southern States. This important hay and har
bour has been neglected heretofore, hut having fallen into
better hands, has been found to justify the report of the
British colonial government sixty years as['i recommending
it as a Dock Y ard and Naval Depot for the South Atlantic
•colonies. A Canal is to be constructed to divert the trade
of the Aitamalia into th s harbour, w hich opens into a larg *
inland sound, navigable for Steamboats to Clmri* ston and
Savannah on the north, and to St. Johns in Florida, on the
south. A naval Commission is now on its way, under the
authority of congress, to determine upon a site for a South
Atlantic Navy yard, which, looking to the facts disclosed in
Col. Baldwin's report, must heat Brunswick The object
of this company, composed of our most respect a! He and re
sponsible capitalists, is to open this canal, and make a Rail
road to the Apalachicola river in Florida, about two hun
dred miles. This Railroad must take nearly the whole
travel from the northern and eastern State?, ns well as of
the South Atlantic, to New Orleans. It will produce a re
volution in the trade and intercommunication of our coun
try—will bring opposite extremes together, and insure a
ready and comfortable passage from Boston Jo New Or
leans in seven days. Such is the outline of a scheme on
the eve of execution, with that noiseless, cautious, and de
cided character of our population.
The author of this splendid as weil as most useful project,
is Thoms Butler King, of Georgia, a gentleman, who, by his
amiable manners and great intelligence, lias made a most fa
vorable impression upon all who have the pleasure to know
him, nnd if his valuable services to his Slat** are appreciated
in Georgia, a« such are estimated here, he deserves, and will
receive its highest honors.—Uoston Atlas. If—13
