B Y the laws of this State, persons acting or appoint
ed as Vendue Masters, in the cities of Savannah,
Augusta and elsewhere, are required to give bond, and
obtain a License from this office before proceeding to
set under their several appointments: ai>d persons sell
ing. or attempting to sett, any goods, wares, or merchan
dize at public auction, as such auctioneer, without first
procuring a License, are subject to be proceeded against
as therein pointed out.
These are to give notice, that no person has obtained
a License from this Department to act as auctioneer in
either of said places or elsewhere, since the 1st of Jana
ary, 1842; and lhat the provisions of the law in cases
where a failure to make the necessary return or to ob
tain a License, have or may hereafter occur, will be in-
forced against those violating the law.
