FT! HE subscriber offers for sale two plantations, in the
-l county of Floyd; one containing six hundred and
forty acres, excellent tiplaud, with250 acres cleared laud,
and o’her good improvements; thp other on Coosa river,
three miles helo.v Rome, containing Kill acres almost
entirely low grounds of the first quality, 80 acres under
cultivation, and tolerably well improved otherwise: also
five town lots in the village of Rome, three of which is
improved for the purpose of keeping entertainment, one
other having thereon a large store house on the main
street, and the other with buildings suitable (or a me
chanic. Much lower prices will he asked in Central
Bank money for these premises than had been offered
for them three years ago iu par money.

I deem it mv duty to call your attention to the laws
respecting the bills of Banks to be received in payment
of any public due or dues.
By the provisions of an act to compel the several
Banks of this State to redeem their liabilities in specie,
&c.. ihe bills of defaulting Banks are d rected not to he
received in payment at this office, except those of the
CEXTRAL BA XK which are made receieable in pay
ment of tuxes. Therefore, to prevent any difficulty in
relation to the collection of the taxes in hills of other
hanks that may hav, suspended payment, or that may
fail during the time of your collections; and to avoid
any loss to the 8late consequent upon such failures, I
call your attention to the subject in due time, that you
may be prepared lo act advisedly in performing vour
duties as Collector.
The Bills of the Central Bank, gold and silver
coin, and notes of such banks as are paying specie at
the time of your settlement at the Treasury, will be re
ceived in payment of Taxes due from you to the State;
consequently for your own safety, lest hills may he re
ceived by yon. on banks which may fail before von set
tle vour accounts, gold and silver, or CENTRAL
BANK NOTES only, are directed to be received by
you in payment of taxes.
