Kj SEEING THE PATIENT!!
BY iYa.S- THOMSON, JYI. D., Macon,Ga.
The Subscriber after un experience of leu years in
the use of Botanic Remedies, has so far perfected his
system of treatment as to be able, in a great majority
of chronic diseases, to effect a permanent cure with
out ever Seeing the Patient, restoring them to health
without “objecting them to the inconvenience and ex
pense of long and tedious journeys, or the cold char
ities of strangers homes and firesides. To many this
may appear as unreasonable as it did to him some
time «tgo, but facts are indisputable, and what to him
appeared then a mere chimera of the brain, is happily
note a matter of every day occurrence.
The undersigned has thus far preferred publishing
the statements of others relative to the b.-nhts derived
from his practice, thinking that that course comport
ed much better with true dignity of feeling than pure
personal puffing in the papers or the still less reputa
ble course to which some high-minded (?) physicians
resort, of egotistically sounding their own trumpets
by the bedside of their patients: and I now nee no
good reason to change my course but shall continue
To give such certificates, as will disarm doubt, and
which though some persons deem them “easy got
up.” are yet such as he will give any man FIVE
HUNDRED DOLLARS to procure their equal in
Georgia—equally well authenticated, under a forfeit
ure of a like amount.
The facts presented by him are such as he is pre
pared to demonstrate at any time to the satisfaction of
the afflicted or their friends, w ho may wish to test it.
The following will speak for themselves.
Georgia, l This may certify that in tire
Jones County, ) fall of 1844. my son William, a-
bont 16 years of age, was taken with nervous fever
and was attended by Dr. Gilson for a long time; and
notwithstanding all he could do he still continued to
get worse so that when the fever left him he had
completely lost die use of his low er extremities, and
could not walk a step nor bear his weight upon his
feet; his legs became cramped and drawn, and he suf
fered almost intolerable anguish from pain; he con
tinued in this terrible stale for over three months, re
duced almost to nothing but skin and hone, At last
when all hope of his improvement had vanished. I
heard of the success of Dr. Thomson of Macon, in
treating disease, and concluded to try him. I accord
ingly made application, and although the Doctor
never saw him, he soon restored him to his usual
health and strength. He now rides about and at
tends to business as if nothing had ever been the mat
ter with him. JOHN BARFIELD.
Jones County, Nov. 24. 1845.
Georgia, ( This may certify that my
Houston County, $ daughter Mary, about 16 years
of age, had been attacked with chloiosis and other
accompanying difficulties, which continued for a con
siderable length of time, and appeared to defy all the
usual remedies that could be brought to bear on : t.—
Sbe suffered greatly with painful misery, till it looked
like she would go into fits. In this situation, aud af
ter relief was despaired of, 1 applied to Doctor Thom
son of Macon, who soon perfectly cured her without
ever having seen her. She is now as sound in health
as any lady in Georgia. JOHN PERMENTKR.
Nov. 26, 1845.
Georgia, ) I do hereby certify that iny
Upson County, y daughter Ann Eliza wasattack-
ed about three years ago with Palsy and disease of the
Spine, by w hich she w as entirely disabled, and lost the
use of her low er extremities. She was immediately
put under the care of Dr. Kendall, w ho atiended her
for sometime, but without benefit. We then applied
to Dr. Parker, a Root Doctor, who after he had treat
ed her ca^e sometime, concluded that he could do
nothing for her We then applied to Dr. Thomas,
of Cullodenville, who attended on her eight months
without the least benefit, for she was left in a most
deplorable condition, perfectly helpless. Wherever
she w as laid there she remained, without the power
of motion by the greatest effort of the will. She was
so much reduced that she looked as if there was not
five pounds of ftesh on the whole body, so that she
could be compared to nothing but a living skeleton,
if such could he imagined. While in this state 1 was
induced to apply to Dr. M. S. Thomson of Macon,
who I am proud to say, by the blessings of Provi
dence and his skill in the use of remedies, has restor
ed tier to excellent bodily health and the use of her
limbs, by which she is enabled to enjoy life. a.\d visit
about in the settlement, without the assistance of any
one. But what surprises every body is, that she has
been restored without having been seen by the Doc
tor, and atthe nominal expense of twenty dollars.

The above cases, considering their character and
importance, will put beyond dispute the fact«.f the
possibility of curing without previous examination of
the patient; which together with the facility of pro
curing medicine, since the reduction of Postage, by
mail, puts it within the power of every body, no mat
ter where they reside, to procure relief from their va
rious maladies, at a very trifling expense.
Persons applying for Medicines ought to send their
symptoms and age iu writing as correctly as possible,
when medicines suited to their various cases will be
compounded and sent. Letters, to entitle them to at
tention, must be post-paid, and persons applying from
a distance had better enclose »lie usual inouthly fee of
of Five Dollars at once, bis charge being so small as
io admit of but slight risk in collecting. Thr poor of

B ALDNESS AND LOSS OF HAIR is caus
ed by a want of healthy action in the vessels
which throw off the peispiration from the head.
When these vessels are weak or diseased, the per
spiration is thick and clammy, aud adheres to the
mouths of the pores, and clogs them up, and dries
and forms scurf dandruff. Less blood is then car
ried to the roots of ihe hair, and for want of which
the hair has not sufficient nourishment, and conse-
I quently becomes dry and harsh, and begins insensi-
! bly to fall off, which, continuing to increase, eventn-
i ally produces baldness. Restore the capillary ves-
j sels of the head to their forintr healthy circulation,
and fine silky netr hair will make its appearance,
which will increase in quantity and volume, until the
t hair becomes thick and healthy.
Jayne’s Hair Tonic is the only preparation that
has ever been known to produce new hair on baltl
heads, which it has done in innumerable instances,
and will seldom fail if properly ai d perseveiingly
used.
To Pare ills.
Dr. Jayne’s Carminative Balsam is a certain and
ppeedy cure for Diarrhoea* D^eniu-ry. Cholera Mor-
bus, Summer Complaints with’children, aud all de
rniigernents of the stomach or bowels, caused by
imprudence or error in diet. It lias effected cures in
the worst cases of these complaints—even where
hope had almost fled—snatched a tender infant from
an early grave, and called forth the exclamation, “it
has saved the child.” The Proprietor of this me
dicine begs leave to state—It is something which he
has used extensively in private practice for a number
of years, aad believes that he has saved many lives
by its timely use. Every person afflicted with these
complaints, are invited to try one bottle of it, which
is warranted to give relief. Pamphlets containing
full directions and certificates of cures accompany
each bottla.

Improved Cotton Gins.
T IIE subscriber will continue the manufacture of
Gins on his usual extensive scale, and lakes
this opportunity to thank his numerous customers,
for their liberal patronage heretofore. The estima
tion in which his gins are held, may be known from
the fact, of his having sold more than two thousand
within the last three years, probably, ten to one, over
any other factory in the State. This evidence of the
superiority of his gins may be accounted for. by his
being the first to introduce tiie lute improvements,
and keeping the lead, by yearly adding new ones.
His first and second improvements made the quality
of cotton perfect though some were rather slow, his
third made them sufficiently fast, n men only re
mained, to make them more durable and convenient,
which has been done he believes effectually, by sev
eral new improvements the present year. Besides,
he has the exclusive right for the State, and the priv
ilege of other sections, to furnish Reid's Patent YY'a-
ter Boxes, which aie believed to be ten times more
durable than any other, by those who have made a
fair trial of them, and are infallibly secure against fire
by friction. His fine gins, will gin .Mastodon Cotton
as well as any saw gin can. His agents, will visit
planters generally, and exhibit specimens of his last
improvements, and point out their advantages, in
time for all to engage, and be supplied before next
January season; or engagements can be made by
letter, directed to him, Clinton, Jones county, Geor
gia. Gins will be delivered a! the purchaser’s resi
dence, in any partol the State, except the Cherokee
counties, where they will be left at the Rail Road
Depot, most convenient to the purchaser, all warrant
ed to perform well, if used according to the printed
directions sent with each.
