no panegyric to establish its frame. Its increasing de
mand for tbe past seven years throughout the United
States in private familes, and all the principal Hotels,
beinga sufficient test of its efficacy in restoring the tone
and uervoUs energy of the various organs contributing
to digestion. Possessing the valuable properties of an
Alterative. Antispeptic and Aromatic Bitter, it gently
excites the secretions tf the gastic juice, invigorates the
spirits, removes from the blood the germa of disease,
and increases the nervous energy of all the vital powers.
Its effects during tbe rage of the cholera in 1819 were
most extraordinary. As a preventive and a cure it
proved alike reliable; andthe testimony in favor is of the
most incontrovertible and emphatic character. It is
warmly recommended by the fac ulty, whose opinions of
its merits is corroborated by fact which cannot be shn- ...
ken or disputed. The proprietor does not offer them to do withont it, or take any other remedy.'
th^jiublic as a cure for every disease which tlesh is heir
to; but simply and with the full assurance,
That it is the Best Preparation ever Offered
to the Public as a Purifier of the System.
But it is the condition of the stomach andthe system
generally—not the name of the disease—wliich must be
taken into consideration in using it, as there is scarcely
a single complaint in which it cannot be advantageously
used. It is especially recommended to ladies of delicate
habit, as an invaluable tonic and restorative to all the
exigencies peculiar to the weaker sex, and affords great
relief in ctuies when taken to relieve uneasiness after
meals. It Is pleasant to thetaste, efficacious in its design,
and no person, after giving it a fair trial, will ever be
without them as a preventive, and ulso a remedy for the
above complaints, so long as moneycau buy them.

numerous instances proved highly beneficial, and in
others effected a decided cure.
This is a purely vegetable compound, prepared on
strictly scientific nrineiples, after the manner of the cel
ebrated Holland Professor, Boerhavc. Because of its
great success in most of the European States, its intro
duction into the United States was intended more es
pecially for those of our fatherland scattered here and
there over the face of this mighty country. Meeting
with great success among them, I now offer it to the
American public, knowing that its truly wonderful modi*
einal virtues must be acknowIedg«*d-
It is particularly recommended^to those persons whose
constitutions may have been impaired by the continu
ous use of ardent spirits, orother forms of dissipation.
Generally instantaneous in effect, it finds its way direct
ly to the seat of life, thrilling and quickening every
nerve, raising up the drooping spirit, and, in fact, infus
ing new health and vigor in the system.
NOTICE—Whoever expects to find this a beverage
will be disappointed; but to the siek, weak and low
spirited, it will prove a grateful aromatic cordial, pos
sessed of singular remedial properties,

rill IE subscriber has thoroughly tried, at Macon
JL and Columbus, Ga., iiis wrought-iron Cotton
Screw, where two of them are now standing and
will remain until October for inspection. I believe
it is the cheapest, by Half, every offered for the
purpose of pressing cotton or hay, as the frame,
screwpin, and levers are all of wrought-iron.—It
should be attached to the gin-housej and have it
put up through the floor, as the ordinary press—the
levers being only five feet in length—to have the
width of the house and 18 or 20 feet, in length, the
lint could then be placed al) around the screw.
Then a man can take five hands and pack as many
five-hundred pound hales in one day, with as little
labor to the hand, as the same five and two more,
w ith a horse, can on the wood-screw in the same
time. Three hands can put up one and talp* it

mules to any point.
