And bidders will take notice that no nrtie’e will be received after the expiration of the period specified in the schedule for the completion of deliveries, unless specially authorized by the department; and that no au thority fn vested in any other pa estimn those named in the contract, to modify or change the contract either as to extension of time or as to quality or quantity of materials. It is to be prowled in the contract, and to be dis- p ictlv understood by the bidders, that the amount and numlier of articles enumerated in classes headed “Mis cellaneous,” are spec ified ns the probable quantity which may be required, as well as to fix data for deter mining the lowest bid; bat the contractor is to furnish more or less of the sa* . cir erated articles, end in such quantities, and- at such times, as t.e b' on or commander mat/ require: such increase, however, not to exceed one third of the quantities stated,(and the excess must be authorized bv the bureau, and requisitions sent through the post office shall be deemed sufficient notice,) ,lui ir;g tlu* fiscal year ending 36th June, 1859; and wheth er the quantities required to be more or less than those specified, the prices shall remain the same.
