Upon Cobbeti’s return to Great

old friends, the lories ol this city, wuh
whom he associated, and from whose
charaßers and intimacy he formed his
criterion of the general virtue of the
American public. We have long

We have always attributed every thing
of bafenef, hypocrisy and impru

acknowledge that whatever was that
opinon, his effrontery has exceeced

of St. James, the pamphlet called the

to calumniate all the fede‘a! merchants
