Notice is hereby given, that in con
formity with the provisions of the aft
supplementary to the aft, intitled “ An
adt making provision for the redemp
tion of the whole of the public debt of
the United States,” books will be open
at theofiice of the commissioner of loans
for Georgia, on the full day of July
next, to continue open until the seven
teenth day of March, 1808, inclusive
ly, the fourteen last days of each quar
ter excepted, for the purpose of re
ceiving fubferiprions for such parts of
the old fix per cent, deferred fix per
cent, and three per cent, stock, as may,
on the day of fubfeription, stand on
the books of the said commissioner of
loans.
Thole proprietors of the old fix per
cent, and deferred flocks, who may
fubferibe, will receive in lieu thereof
anew fix per cent. Rock, equal to the
unredeemed amount of the stock fur
rendered, redeemable at the pleasure of
the United States, under a proviso,
however, tha tno reiinburfemem shall
be made except for the whole amount
of anv Rich new certificate of flock,
nor till after fix mouths previous no
tice r and the proprietors of the three
per cent, stock who may fubferibe,
will receive in lieu thereof, a fix per
cent, (lock, equal to fixty-fivc per
cent, of the amount of three per cent,
funendered, redeemable in the fame
manner as the new fix per cent, above
mentioned but not reimbursable, how
ever, without the assent of the holders,
until after the whole cf the new fix
percent, (given in exchange for old
; fix or deferred as above mentioned) as
well as the whole of the eight percent,
flock of the United Mates, shall have
been rcimburfed. It is also provided,
that in every reimbursement which
may take place, a preference will be
given to those creditors who may no
tify their wilh to be reimbursed; and
that if the applications to that effeft
fhaii at anv time either exceed or fall
lltorc of the sum then applicable to
that purpose, the priority ol payment
ftiall, so far as may be necefiary, be
determined by lot.
The present (lock-holders who re
side in any part of Europe, and may
assent to that modification, may, at
their option, receive the lntereft ac
cruing on the new stock, either in the
United States as heretofore, or in Lon
don or Amsterdam, at par; in which
last case, the interest will be paid there
by the bankers of the United Si ates,
fix months subsequent to the day on
which the fame would be payable in
the United States and fubjeft to no
variation; nor to any other deduction
than a commissioner to the bankers,
of one half per cent, on the interest
thus paid.
