To amend an ordinar.ee, entitled an Or.
distance , to amend an Os distance , entitled an
Oi dtnance, for the purpose of establishing
aid organizing a regular Might Watch ,
for the better protecting the C ty of Savan
nah.
It xs ordained by the Mayor and Alder,
men oj the City of Savannah, in Council as.
setnbled, that it shall be the duty of the Sit.
perxnttndant , and Deputy Superintcndant
of the Night Watchto remain m the Watch',
house alternately, from the time of sitting
the Waick, until day-light, on every tight
during the whole year, excepting such tune
as may he necessarily ar.pldycd in visiting
the Pat roles, to s ec that they perform their
duty properly , which absences shall at no
one tune exceed the space of one hour ; and
1 that in case oj refusal or tiegletl of the said
Superintcndant, Deputy Sucerintendant of
the Night Watch . to comply with the afore
laid regulation, he ska'lf or every such of
j.nce, forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding
one month’s fay . one half thereof to be ap
plied to the use of the informer, and the oth
er half to the use of th: city.
And be it further ordained, that on the
day of December in .ac/s year, there
shall be a Superintcr.dant, and Deputy Su
pcrinloidant, defied to serve for one year.
