ON this important fubjetl many books
have been written, which, though
excellent in other refpefts, have yet great
ly faded of their ufeltilnefs 10 Americans,
bacaufs they treat ofdifeales which, cxill
ing in very different climates and consti
tutions, must widely differ from ours.—
The book, now offered to the public has,
therefore, the great advantage ot having
been written by a native American of long
and fucctsslul pfaQice in these Southern
States, and who, for years past, has turned
much of his attention to this very intereff
ing fubjeH. He is very sanguine that h's
book will prove exceedingly ufeful to all
families, but more efpeciaily to those liv
ing in scattered neighbourhoods, where
regular medical attendance cannot easily he
obtained. For the use lamilics thus
unfortunately circurallanced, ■ the author
has prepared his Planter’s and Mariner’s
Medical Gc n.panion , which treats, in the
moll clear ami concise manner, a'moft ev
ery difsafe to which tire human body is li

which are subjoined, a treatise on the dii
