Different reviews of this Work.
The Northampton Farmer, a republican
paper fays—
We feel particular gratification, that the
Editor ol the Aurora in coniequence of
the prefiir.g foiici.atioi s from different
parts of the union, intends to pubhfli the
j Politics for Farmers and Mechanics, in the
pamphlet form. When this is done, every
farmer will be enabled (and no one ought
to negleft ii) to procute a copy of this va
luable and highly interesting work.”
From Lang's Royal Gazette , published
in New-Ycrk.
“ The latealroctous arid piratical decree
ol Bonaparte is a complete comment on
the writings of Duane, for lotas time past,
particularly on those accursed pieces enti
tled “ Politics for Farmers.” The Ame
rican that would now presume to deny
that this man is an agent of the tyrant of
France, ought to be held up as an objeft. of
general fmpicion.—The finking coinci
dence between this outrageous attack upon
the very vitals of our country, and the
poisonous doftrines of the Aurora in pre
paring the preponderating interefi, (the a
griculturalists) of the United States, for
their servile reception, is too obvious to
elcape the meft unthinking. It cannot
now be denied that there was a preconcert
ed plan between Duane and his Galic mas
ters to prepare the public mind of this
country to fwaliow without a rourraer, this
deleterous pill ; this direfct flab at our high
est interefi. It Congress does riot ftiow a
becoming spirit on this occafton, then in
deed have the execrable agents of Napoleon !
but too fatally succeeded, in fcatteriea the
fire brands of dillenticn and luring us into
their fell snares. It would seem th3t the
Aurora forefaw, or rather was foretold of
these piefent alarming measures of the
Emperor of France against this country;
a puto keep down our spirit, and lay pros
trate, our energies, he has for fame time
part been feduloufiy and wickedly employ
ed in making the farmers feel hoftiliiy to
rlieir brethren of the cities ; (Living to
perluade them tha: their inteiefls were dis
tinft Irom thele of the merchants ; as it
what deeply affefted the one, did nut di
reftly injury the other.”
