stomach. Morbid changes in the structure
of the posterior fauces and in different por
tions of the gullet, occasioning diseased con
traction of that tube, have hern justly referru-
hlo to the distempering influence of Tobacco.
The worst cases of indigestion i.nd of mesen
teric atrophy have been reasonably supposed
on 29th instant; the quantity will probably
he increased. The import oftlio week is 17,-
800 hales, and since the 1st January it reach
es 520,800, against 540,000 to this period last
year; there is a decrease in the supply from
the United Stales of of 45,000 bales.
