IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS.

Extracts From the Report of Berrlen’a

, $ On account of the rapid growth of
our county, both in wealth and popu
lation,. and the great distance from
the county seat of our largest busi
ness centre and the consequent in
convenience attendant upon the trans-
r ^ action of the public business affecting
the territory around Tifton, we recom
mend the creation of a new county,
with Tifton as its county seat, and
that the territory now lying northwest
of a line drawn from the southwest
corner of lot of land No. 516, in the
Sixth district of the county, diagonal

A Tribute to the Mockingbird.
A brief, Bi^atiful tribute to the
mockingbird comes from C. H. Gar
rett, Barnett, Ga.:
“I have a friend—a mockingbird—
and for three years he has' been a
close neighbor of mine, and to him I
am due many pleasant hours. I do
not mean that he is caged and swing
ing on the veranda. I call him my
friend because he chooses to make
the grove ribar the station his home,
and every day, at this season, gives
me a ‘continuous performance.’ It Is
sweeter because he is free-r-free to
live and go where he pleases in grove
and field, and his song seems a giving
of thanks from a little heart overflow
ing with gratitude for the sunBhine
and flowers. But when the dpy is
done and night silences his noisy riv
als, it is then that I appreciate him
most. It is now near 12 o’clock Sun-

new county.
We, as a body, urge the legislature
to pass the measures creating said
new county, and 'request our senator
and representative to give the same
their hearty and vigorous support.
We recommend that Comer M.
Woodward be appointed to fill the va
cancy on the board of education,
caused by the resignation of W. B.
Wilkes.
We recommend that the county
court of Berrien county be abolished
and a city court be established at
Nashville, and we instruct our repre
sentatives to introduce a bill in the
next general assembly for the same,
and urge its passage. .
We recommeend that the funds aris
ing from the -hire of the five-year .con
victs, which is now in the county
treasury, be transferred to the public
school funds of the county, and that
the same be so applied in the future.
We find that the public rcteds of the
county are generally in bad condition,
and, realizing a necessity for more
and better work on same, we recom
mend that the pubic road law
Georgia, known as "the alternative
road lwa,” embraced in the code of
Georgia from section 573 to 5S3, in
clusive, together with all amend
ments thereto, be and the same is
hereby put into operation in the coun
ty of Berrien.
We recommend that the clerk of
the superior court be made clerk ex-
olficio of the board of commissioners
of roads and revenues.
In compliance with a request of our
commissioners, we recommend the fol
lowing tax levies: For general coun
ty funds purposes, 30 cents on the
$100; for bridge purposes, 6 cents on
the $100, making a total of 35 cents
on the $100.

perhaps, his only auditor. As I hear
his song wafted through the open win

Chamberlain's Cough Remedy, the
Beat and Moat Popular.
"Mothers buy it for croupy children,
railroad men buy it for severe coughs
and elderly people buy it for la
grippe,” say Moore, tiros., Eldon, Iowa.
"We sell more of Chamberlain’s Cough
Remedy than any other kind. It seems
to have taken the lead over several
other good brands.” There is no ques
tion but this medicine Is the best that
can be prepared for coughs and colds,
whether it be a child or an adult that
is afflicted. It always cures, and cures
quickly. Sold by W. D. Dunaway, Val

Experiences Similar to This Have Oc
casioned Considerable Comment
in Valdosta.
Few women are better known in
Ixjckport, N. Y., than Mrs. Pattie D.
Hall, as she belongs to one of the
best families and has a large circle
of friends and acquaintances. In a
recent interview Mrs. Hall said:
"The- experience I have been
through In the last two years seems
like a miracle. I was so badly off
that life seemed almost unendurable,
and my deafness Increased so that I
could scarcely hear anything. The
suffocation in my chest and the indi
gestion caused by my catarrh produced
very severe suffering. I had five dif
ferent physicians, bought everything
that anybody recommended to me,
but finally gave up in despair.
"One day my milliner asked me if
I had ever tried Hyomel. I began the
treatment, and can truthfully testify
that Hyomei does cure this terrible
disease. Since using it my hearing is
greatly improved, and the only time I
have any catarrhal trouble is when I
take cold. I then use Hyomei, and
always get instant relief. My friends
and acquaintances marvel at the
change in my health and hearing.”
Hyomei has made many cures of
catarrh, and in connection with Hyo
mei balm, of catarrhal deafness, in
Valdosta. Similar experiences to that
of Mrs. Hall’s have created a large
saie for Hyomei with A. E. Dlmmock.
The complete outfit, including the
inhaler, costs but $1, while extra bot
tles are but 50 cents. Ask A. E. Dim-
mock to show you the strong guaran
tee under which he sells Hyomei.

Says a writer In the New York

tolls the story of a boy who was asked
“How Is your father?”
"Father la ’ feeling bad and com
plains much of his health," replied the
boy.
That's all nonsense," replied the
friends. "The next tlmS your father
complains, you must tell him that It Is
imagination and that he just
thinks he is sick. Tell him to brace
up: there la nothing the matter with
him."
Two or three days after the gentle
man again met the boy and Inquired
about the health of his father. "Fath-
