A. Carswell and A. P. Carswell, of said county and state respectfully shows to the court. First: That they desire for them selves and such Dtier persons as may be associated with them, their successors and assigns, to become iucoiporated under the name and slyle of the G. A. Carswell Company. Second: The term for which peti tioners ask to be incorporated is twenty years, with the privilege of renewal at the end of that time. Thiid: The capital stock of said corporation Is to be Five Thousand Dollars, divided into shares of One Hundred Dollars each, with the priv ilege of increasing the capital stock from time to time to any amount not exceeding Ten Thousand Dol lars. MIDSHIPMAN WAS KILLED IN A FIGHT BY ROUND A New York and Illinois Middy Fought a Regular Battle in the Ring and One of Them Was Killed. Annapolis, Nov. 8—Midshipman James R. Branch, son of James R. Branch, of the Hanover Bank, New York, was seriously injured in a fist fight w,ith another midshipman and died, The midshipman died from injuries received in a fight with Midshipman Meriwether, of Lafayette ,111. The fight took place Sunday night and was a regular pitched battle, with ring and seconds. Meriwether is also in the hospital as a result of the Injuries he receiv ed in the fight and for that reason the authorities have not put him under arrest. Department of Agriculture Issues Re port on Rust Mite. Washington, Nov. 7.—The Depart ment of Agriculture in a report just is sued, says the red ipidf r, a rust mite, has been quite prevalent in some sec tions of the cotton-growing area of this country during the past two yearn. The spid r is a minute yellowish-red mite which fteds on the cotton plant, principally on the under sid«s of the leaves, but at times attacking all parts of the plant. The report says the pest is very prob ably distributed throughout the entire cotton growing area of the South, al though curing late years its occurrence in injurious numbers has not been re ported until the summer of 1908, when it caused considerable damage to cotton in South Carolina and Georgia. Dan Patch a Methodist. M. W. Savage, of Minneapolis, the owner of the world’s greatest horse Dan Patch, stipulates in all of his racing contracts that no betting, pool selling nor liquor selling is to bo permitted at any track where Dan Patch paces When he was offered $3,000 recently fo^ waiving that stip ulation for one day at the Delman Park races, St. Louis, Mr. Savage tel egraphed a reply which bids fair to become famous: “Sorry, - but Bair Patch joined the Methodist church two years ago” Mr Savage was In earnest so far as Methodism is con cerned, for whatever Dan may think about backsliding and revivals and fast living, his owner, Mr. Savage, is a consistent and highly respected member of the church. He is doing a great work for racing, in making It respectable and honest. Mr. Savage brought the Canadians to time by Insisting that Dan Patch should not pace at Toronto unless he was given assurance and a bond guar anteeing that there Rhould be no li quor selling or betting allowed at the track. The Toronto Board of Control agreed with Mr. Savago and ordered the track closed because the Toronto Driving Club openly allowed betting and bookmaking. Judge of Waycross City Court. Governor Terrell today appointed and commissioned Hon. J. T. Myers Judge of the city court of Waycross, to succeed Judge J C. Reynolds ,who has resigned for the purpose of re moving his residence to Florida.
