THE LONG COTTON Rules and By-Laws of the flsso- The Florida Association to be Amal gamated With the Sea Island Cot ton Growers of Georgia—The Order of Business That Has Been Arrang ed for the Coming Meeting. The following are the by-laws adopt ed for the Florida Sea .Island Cotton Growers Association, which will be amalgamated with the Georgia Sea Island Cotton Growers Association at Valdosta, Nov. 2a. Section 1—The president shall pre side at all meetings of this organiza tion and also the meeting of the ex ecutive committee when present. He shall also do all In his power to pro mote and advance the object and the purposes of this movement. Section II—The vice president shall preside at regular or called meetings in the absence of the pres ident. Section III—The secretary and treasurer shall keep a correct roll of members and the minutes of all meet* ings. He shall 001*1001 the annual dues of members and remit the same to the treasurer of the state associa tion at reserv ing 10 per cent of such collections to reimburse himself for the wftrk neces sary to collect and forward same to the state treasurer. He shall also collect the subscriptions for the “offi cial organ” of the said association, and order said papers for each mem ber. His books and minutes shall at all times be open to the inspection of the officers and members of the or ganization and he shall make annual ly an itemized account of his acts and doings, and of the money collect ed and how disbursed to the execu tive committee. •Section IV—This organization will hold Its regular meetings on the day of each month or quarter. Section V.—Needed information shall be sent from time to time to the official heads of the state association bearing upon the different stages of the cotton crops, whenever called for, so that all sub-organizations working In harmony together correct statisti cal information can be promptly got ten out from all sections of the cot ton belt at regular periods. MONEY TO LEND MONEY TO LEND Rawlings Denies he “Cussed.” At the county jail yesterday after noon J. G. Rawlings said that he had not been trying to play crazy but that he had acted badly, ho knew. He said that he felt that the condi tion under which he was living jus tified him In getting In a bad humor occasionally, though he wanted it un derstood that he had not been pro fane. He said that he had expressed his regret to the officials at his conduct. That the large increase in the bus iness of the post office here is recog nized in Washington is made evident by the fact that recommendations have been made for the purchase, of entirely new furniture for the local office. This Includes about four hundred new combination boxes and complete new counters, office-windows and furnishings. This will make the of fice as handsome as any office in tho same class in the state. The business of the office hero is very large and is increasing all of teh time. Tho receipts for the now fiscal year already show up far In excess of the same quarter last year. The business for the year just clos ed amounted to about $22,500 against $ 18,0u0 for the year before, showing Increase of over $1,500. It is be lieved that the business this year go to at least $27,000. The business at the post office Is an unfailing sign of the business of the city which is growing all of the time. Mitchell adjourned Brooks superior court over from Sat urday to Tuesday in order to give him time to run up to Tifton and hold a session of superior court in the new county of Tift. The session there was mainly for the purpose of adjourning the court over to some convenient day in December. The criminal docket In Brooks Is said to contain a large number of “blin I tiger” cases and a volumnlous array of testimony will be used In prosecuting these eases.
